It’s Paper Guy! is a very sweet little paper 2D adventure game.

The game’s charm level is definitely over 9000. You play as a happy little paper guy with a few different animations. You’re in a storybook world where everything is hand-drawn on paper. The game features 2.5D graphics that looks like something from an animation studio. If you’re a sucker for pretty visuals, this game is worth your time.

The environment is in black and white and everything is a pencil sketching- the trees, the brushes, the houses, and it’s all on artist’s grid paper.

It somehow reminds us of Cuphead in a way. The animations are old-school and very charming.

It’s Paper Guy! has no objective other than to navigate to the end of the level (move to the right!). Think classics like Paper Mario. There aren’t any enemies or collectibles. All you do is move to the right and get around obstacles- you could say it’s a puzzle/platformer game.

The only interaction you’ll be doing is helping a little paper guy get to the end by slicing up the world around him. You use your mouse and click and drag to make cuts in the world in any direction you want. As you slice stuff up, he’ll continue moving to the right!

Since the game is still a prototype, not everything can be sliced yet. But there is a fair amount of objects you can cut up just to mess around with an “ooh” and “ahh” at the awesome artwork and animations that have gone into this game. You’ll have to slice up random objects so he can keep moving and beat the level!

The game is very short and sweet and will provide a few minutes of entertainment. You don’t want to rush through ti though- enjoy all the scenery and make up a story as you play it.

The Paper Guy! is still very early in development right now, but this is an awesome foundation to get something epic started. Give this game a try- it’s worth it just for the novelty.
