A Case for Watson is a trippy detective simulator game where you play as one of the most popular detectives known to man! Well, at least his partner.

It aims to be an authentic detective simulator as you play as Watson to solve a murder before Sherlock arrives on the scene to steal your thunder. The game is unique because it’s not easy. You can’t just walk into a room and have all the hints and clues highlighted for you. You’ll actually have to LOOK for and FIND the clues in order to solve the murder. It’s not all laid out for ya like in many other puzzle games. If you’re playing this game, you’re playing it for the puzzles and thinking involved.

You look around the room and use your notepad to take notes about the place and sketch objects of interest. You can kind of take virtual photos using this sketchbook and also chat with various NPCs and “keep” notes about them by dragging/dropping their sentences they say into your notes. Everything they say can be logged in your notebook, so just take note of the important stuff. It’s really an authentic detective simulator and probably the most detailed one I’ve come across so far.

If you really like murer/puzzle games, try out A Case for Watson. When you think you’re ready, you’ll be quizzed by Sherlock Holmes on your deductions and you’ll have to find out everything about the scene. You’ll literally be quizzed on the most random things you’d never guess! It’s time to be the best detective you can ever be!

Scorch is a first-person adventure where you need to crack the case of a murder scene.

It’s an atmospheric, narrative adventure game that has you scavenging the area for clues and evidence so you can solve the mystery of whodunit.

You’re a detective named Gary Price with a bad habit of drinking. And you’re on a final court warning. So you decide to take this one case pretty seriously in order to earn the respect back from the court. The game plays like Firewatch and Gone Home- it’s like a hybrid of them.

You walk around the scene and investigate the area. You can perform basic actions like examining the environment and looking for specific objects. Scorch has you scouring the area for evidence. You need to find out who the killer was and how the killer did it. You need to for clues that suggest the motives behind the attack and such.

Scorch turns this little scene into a whole egg hunt and makes it pretty immersive to play. It has an original story with full voice acting. The objects are all interactive and it even has a day/night cycle.

Without spoiling the game, try it out if you like mystery games. It’s an awesome little detective simulator that’s a blast to play.

A Case of Distrust is a point-and-click adventure game that has you playing as a detective in 1920s San Francisco!

It’s a game that plays a lot like Myst and Phoenix Wright. You play as a private investigator named Phyllis Malone in the early 1900s. You have nothing better to do than talk to your cat when a mysterious new case comes up that requires you to investigate a recent case.

The game plays as a point-and-click adventure filled with silhouettes. It’s very similar to an old-timey film without the black and white. For some reason, the visual art style is very impressive and makes you feel like you’re in a Dick Tracy film or something.

A Case of Distrust has you talking to people of interest and reading their dialog for clues. You also click on any objects that may give you a clue in order to gather evidence and talk to people. A lot of the people you talk to won’t say anything unless you have evidence, so you need to gather it first and pull it out of your notebook before they’ll say anything.

The puzzles aren’t that difficult and the game is rather monotonous in its current build. It lasts just a tad over 14 minutes to beat, but you’ll like the art style. That’s probably the best part about it. The dialog is also nearly perfect and the storyline has good pacing and just flows. The story behind this game seems like something stolen out of a masterpiece novel.

You won’t be able to solve the game until the full version rolls out. But you’ll be able to get a taste of it now. A Case of Distrust is worth a play through just for the fun of it.

You’ll be able to explore a variety of environments like billiard halls, barber shops, and even speakeasies. The game has a historic tone of it and you’ll have to go through many different plot twists in this deceptive adventure! Worth a play.

Twilight Town is a point-and-click detective mystery game with a twist.

You play as a detective in Twilight Town and your only objective is to uncover the hidden, dark secret of the town and stop the villains from overruling it. You’re the last detective in your line and you’ve been sent to this awfully strange town in order to find out what happened to your predecessor- Constantine.

As you start digging into the clues, you find out that this place holds a lot more than what meets the eye.

The game is pretty much a hidden objects type of game, where you need to find an assortment of laid out objects on a panel and find these objects on the screen in a still image. You point, click, and find them. With all the storyline aside, Twilight Town is an expansive “find the object” game. The only difference that it offers is an in-depth story, which you don’t often see with typical games of this genre.

It also has some other features like city-building and basic combat. You can use magical abilities to fight some evil villains, but it’s very, very basic. You also have resource management with a limited supply of goods, so there are some RPG elements as well.

Each citizen has a reputation meter that you have to improve and the cast of characters is pretty well-done. They each have two separate guises for you to uncover.

The game also has a few minigames thrown in that make it feel like you’re playing a cheap puzzle game on your phone. These are pretty annoying but are required to progress.

As for the actually puzzle-solving, it’s decent. You can complete over 100 magic collections of items and explore very detailed environments.

Twilight Town is like a hybrid of a point-and-click detective game, city-builder, and graphic novel all into one game with basic monster battles and a pretty awesome storyline.

It’s a very corny game, but if you like roleplaying or you want to try something new and visually-appealing, give Twilight Town a try (especially if you like point-and-click games).

Aquacreep is a game based on the Astrocreep universe where you play as the humans against the morphing aliens.

You need to survive a serious alien infiltration at sea by using clues scattered throughout the game. Aquacreep has you and a team of humans working together in order to solve the mystery. But, someone on your team is actually the Aquacreep disguised as a human.

If you watched or played The Thing, this game is pretty much the same scenario in a warped dimension. The game uses a randomness factor throughout the story and your teammates each respond uniquely to the random elements.

The game has cartoonish graphics but still, puts you in an involved storyline that makes you want to finish the whole thing in a single playthrough. There’s a lot of dialogue and reading involved, so if that’s not your thing, you may want to look for another game.

It’s a sidescroller adventure with you walking through the different room and environments getting clues and hints other people, lab samples, and other objects. You have a few items you can use, including a basic handgun.

When you encounter actual “creature,” a fight ensues with the HP bar displayed wide across the screen. These are the moments that define the game. All the clues and variables finally come together in a shootout. It really gives you that satisfying feeling.

It’s like if The Thing has a randomizer that mixed up the clues every single time you watched or played it. It would be a different character for you to guess every time.

The awesome thing about Aquacreep is that you never play the same game twice. It’s always a different adventure because of the randomized variables.

Personally, I really like games that use this kind of setup. It adds an unpredictability factor to the game, and for a game like this with a suspenseful story, it fits the theme.
