Drawn Story is a unique little puzzle game where you use your mouse to draw objects into existence to help a stickman escape an island.

The world of Drawn Story takes place on an island, but it’s almost like playing a game on a sheet of paper. You’re in control of the fate of a stickman character with no name who’s inhabiting this paper world. You play as a narrative artist who has the ability to draw on the screen with a “magical pencil” and brings items into existence!

The game will prompt you with objects to draw. If you draw them correctly, they’ll pop up in the game and fall into existence. The stickman will actually pick up and interact with the items you draw. How cool is that?

If you’ve played Drawn To Life, it’s basically the same concept but rather you’re trying to save a stickman rather than a platformer.

You face a variety of puzzles and obstacles and the only way to make progress is to read the stickman’s bubble chats and draw an item that would solve the puzzle. The mouse cursor acts as your artist’s pencil and the game recognizes and maps your movements pretty accurately. But there are some parts where it has trouble since it’s not perfect. The game is still in an early alpha build, so improvements are to be expected.

The puzzles offered are also very easy at the moment with only a few objects to draw. But it’s still in the works and we can expect an awesome game in the future when the full version rolls out. The game’s concept isn’t unique, but the only game that comes to mind is Drawn To Life for the Nintendo DS back in 2007. Drawn Story brings the concept back and it still makes for a jaw-dropping experience. It “oohs” and “ahhs” plenty.

Each puzzle does have multiple ways to solve them and can be solved with different objects. This game is relaxing, entertaining, and just amazes you with the artwork.

You can draw a boat to sail. An oar to sail with. An axe to cut down wooden structures. A key to unlock a door. There’s plenty to draw and different ways to get past each obstacle. And the puzzles range from getting around guards, exploring castles, and even saving princesses.

The game is just so cool to play. The developer hasn’t updated the game in a while though and didn’t fix the bugs, so it’s rated pretty negatively on Steam.
