En Garde! is an awesome swashbuckling adventure game that has you playing as a swordswoman who needs to take out guards and find out who’s behind it.

The game is a third-person adventure that has you jumping all over the place as and slashing up guards in real-time combat. Think Assassin’s Creed in a different universe. You need to use your rapier and kill the guards who are attacking your village and find their leader.

The game currently has one giant level with a few guards running around. You can fight them in sword fights, and you can also use the environment to help you out by knocking down chandeliers or bookcases. Every object is interactive in some way. It’s a prototype with a story-driven take and combines adventure with sword fights!

En Garde! is still pretty new, but the game is already very entertaining with the fluid controls and animations. You’re free to explore the huge level and swashbuckle it up. You can play for about 30 straight with nonstop action. Works with Xbox Controller, gamepad, or keyboard.

Trappist Landing is a first-person adventure game that’s all about exploring a lost planet.

You play the role of an exobiologist who lands on an alien planet and you’re the first to document life on it. The problem is that there are plenty of indigenous inhabitants. You play as Sara Mungnez who’s on a mission to explore the planet and be the first to document it. The game takes place in the Trappist Solar System.

Most of the game has you running around and using a scanner to interact with lifeforms and sending the data back to the ship. You’re not alone- you have a crewmate who’ll interact with you and talk to you. You scan plants, and other organics but then you’ll find some pretty not-so-friend encounters that thrive on this dark planet.

The game has awesome visuals, narrative, and voice work. It’s a full immersion experience that’ll have you captivated for the next half hour. Highly recommended.

Marie’s Room is an exploration indie game about a friendship between two classmates.

The game is a first-person adventure game where you explore the past between Kelsey and Marie. You play as Kelsey and you’re walking around Marie’s room as it was 20 years ago. As you explore the abandoned room, you’ll find that it’s full of memories between them. Some of them are bad, others are good. It’s a tale of two classmates of the past as how Kelsey remembers it.

You can investigate nearly every object in the room and find out the secrets Marie never wanted you to know about. It features some detailed artwork and a beautiful soundtrack. It has voice acting and a very nice story you wouldn’t expect. It’s an incredible game.

Total Anarchy is an awesome top-down exploration that plays similarly to the GTA series.

You’re an angry office worker who just wants to unleash his anger. You’ve just been fired because you’re horrible at your work and your’e also a drug dealer. After you take the last straw, it’s time to unleash all that pent-up anger you’ve been bottling within. Now you’re out and about in the city and hijacking cars, stealing weapons, blowing stuff up, shooting randomly, beating up people, and listening to your favorite tunes.

The game features over 100 vehicles and 26 different weapons that’ll give you endless entertainment. If you like GTA, you need to try out this game. It’s currently in early dev so there are plenty of bugs, but it still offers a very entertaining action game with plenty of exploration. You can ride, run, walk, and even go inside buildings as well. It brings you back to the older days of GTA.

Hearth is a top-down survival game where you need to keep your fire going.

If it runs out, the game’s over.

It’ll instantly remind you of The Long Dark. You’re in the freezing winters and it’s snowing. You need to scour the land in search of wood, resources, and items in order to keep the fire burning. The catch is that you can also use the resources to craft weapons, light sources, or build other tools to help you work more efficiently. Everything is burnable, but everything also has a purpose.

You need to do some resource management and decide whether to burn it and keep the hearth going or utilize it and make it into something that’ll benefit you int he long run.

The world is filled with random things to collect and there are a few monsters here and there. The game is still in early dev, but it lays out a nice foundation.

The Cinema Rosa is an awesome psychedelic visual narrative in the first-person perspective.

The game has you exploring an old and abandoned art exhibit cinema where you’ll have to solve puzzles and discover your character’s past. You’ll experience many different emotions such as nostalgia and regret as your character uncovers suppressed feelings he once had. The cinema is broken and dilapidated, but it’s the perfect place where you can solve puzzles to help rebuild it back to the former days and discover yourself in the process.

It’s not exactly a horror game, but it definitely has that horror aspect to it. You have to explore the entire building with plenty of nooks and crannies to see. The place is very detailed and realistic. As you restore it, you can see how it once looked.

The narrative of the many owners that once owned the place is good for backstory and is probably the best way to find out what happened to The Cinema Rosa. If you like exploration games, you definitely need to try this game out. It’s hard to explain without spoiling it, so just play it.

Dungeons of Tal’Doria is an awesome dungeon crawler that you can play with friends!

It’s a co-op sandbox exploration game that plays like old-school Diablo. You pick a class (Knight, Archer, or Mage) and explore a randomly-generated dungeon full of archer skeletons, evil wizards, and even some epic bosses!

The game features an infinite world so it’s never the same game. Think Minecraft. The game uses the same blocky voxel-style graphics with the same concept of world generation. It’s endless exploration. You can traverse through unique biomes each filled with numerous enemies and take them down with your weapon of choice. There’s loot to collect, pets to train, and skills to learn and level up! It’s like if Diablo and Minecraft had a baby together and it was born into a blocky world.

You can do everything from crafting items, learning special professions, and even take a break and go fishing to relax!

The current build of Dungeons of Tal’Doria limits you to small biomes and a level cap of 6. Later builds will have a skill system and multiplayer as well- which is probably the best part of the game.

Exploring the game, slaying monsters, and getting epic loot is okay by yourself. But with a group of friends. It’s even better (well, maybe except for the looting part).

Shapik: The Quest 2 is a beautiful point-and-click 2D adventure through a fantasy and mysterious world.

It plays just like any classic point-and-click game you grew up with and has the exact same mechanics so there’s nothing new to learn or anything gimmicky to master. It’s just basic “click to go here” type of gameplay, so nothing new there.

Shapik: The Quest 2 takes place in a post-nuclear world where planet Earth has been destroyed by a huge nuclear war. It’s the war we’ve all been dreading. Nuclear bombs going off everywhere has left the world’s landscapes in shambles and leaves a very strange environment to explore. You’re a humanoid creature named Shapik who has finally reached the surface of the Earth after many years following the nuclear war.

You’re out and about to explore the aftermath of what’s remaining and what was the reason for the nuclear war and fallout.

It sounds like a dark plot, no? But the game is actually very lighthearted and enjoyable. You’ll explore a nuclear wasteland and meet a whole cast of quirky and zany characters each with unique personalities. Although the game isn’t complete, you can easily see that it has a nice foundation for a future release. There’s no real objective to the game other than to explore and uncover the story behind the war.

The artwork for this game is mesmerizing. It’s an atmospheric adventure that’ll have you sucked into the plot (which by the way is extremely wacky) and you’ll be clicking and pointing until you’re done with the whole game (it’s still in an early build).

The environments range from earthly divides filled with flora, fauna, and creatures to futuristic laboratories and factories to giant trees with hovering spaceships and swaying bridges many stories up in the air! The game has lush, gorgeous scenery and looks very polished. If you’ve played Ori and Blind Forest, you’ll know how a beautiful game can draw you in. Remember- it’s post-nuclear so plants and creatures have inhabited the world!

The game has you controlling Shapik and solving basic puzzles, exploring, and interacting with various objects, creatures, and humanoids. There’s about 20 minutes of gameplay so far, but the game’s first build just rolled out about 5 days ago from the time of this writing, so it’s still in heavy development.

Smintheus is a puzzle adventure game that combines some RPG elements all wrapped up into one gorgeous adventure!

It’s a 2D puzzler where you play as a mouse named Gerald. You’re a young craftsman who was ostracized from your home village because of danger from the local cat. So now you’re on a lonesome adventure in a beautiful fantasy world.

Smintheus is a top-down platformer with some seriously amazing artwork. It features rich, colorful worlds with lots of special effects like glows and color contrasts. It looks like something from the N64 or Game Boy era with remastered graphics. I know that’s a weird comparison, but that’s the vibe I got from trying out this game.

The puzzles are simple and basic and aren’t designed to slow down your pace. You can solve them quickly and move onto the next one so your adventure is always rolling. You’ll see familiar puzzles like tile sliding and box pushing tasks. You’ll also see some more complex and unique ones like gadget placements, which I haven’t really seen in other games before.

The game is mainly a “complete one area and move onto the next” type of thing with some mild puzzle elements thrown into it. The most enjoying part is simply just looking at the environments you’ll encounter. The puzzles are second rate in my opinion. I found the exploration and level design much more interesting.

Besides the puzzling and exploring, you also get a few tools that you can use offensively to take down enemies. Some of the tools will be needed to solve puzzles as well.

The game also has crafting elements to it where you need to build stuff to make progress- especially bridges or getting across rivers, lakes, and building on water. This adds a whole new element of gameplay, but it seems underutilized. You can also do quests on the side with the primary quest as well. You have a nice inventory layout that has all your items, gadgets, attributes, and quests on one screen.

The antagonist of the game is a powerful creature who will attempt to take you down as you go about your mousey life. There are some areas where you need to sneak around and go dark in order to not get caught. There are also plenty of mobs to fight as well. The game also lets you sneak around them if you wish (being a mouse means sneaking through enemy lines!).

Throughout your adventure, you’ll find a few NPCs who you can interact with. They have some basic dialog and contribute mildly to the story, but it seems like they’re still a work-in-progress.

Smintheus also has a nice little retro-style OST from the 1980s. Each world has a unique track to it and they’re quite fitting to the game.

If you’re in for a simple and cute little indie puzzler, Smintheus is worth a try. It features gorgeous artwork with easy puzzles and the element of exploration. Crafting and survival elements are also used lightly throughout the game so it feels almost like an RPG.

Make Sail is an ocean exploration game where you can build any ship you can imagine!

It’s a new upcoming indie title that focuses on crafting the ultimate ship of your dreams and using it sail the high seas in procedurally-generated worlds. That means the seas are never the same experience and it’s always unique, which means you’re always exploring!

The game uses a sophisticated crafting system that lets you snap together a variety of objects like planks, sails, masts, poles, floats, and even jets, propellers, balloons, and sparklers! You can make your ship as ridiculous or grand as you want. Once you’re done with a starter ship, it’s off to the seas.

As you explore the gorgeous world, you’ll come across handcrafted islands filled with fauna, flora, and wildlife. You can then get off the ship and explore the island on foot to find treasures like more pieces for your ship to upgrade it. You can build it bigger, faster, or stronger- however you like.

The game is like a hybrid of exploration and optimization. It rewards you for exploring its realistic and breathtaking scenery that’s always unique by giving you more parts to upgrade your boat and further customize it. It’s a very nice feedback loop that’s purely designed to get players hooked.

Each island allows you to redesign and rebuild your ship as you gather new parts. The world is stunning and complete with breathing trees, shooting stars, and crashing waves. Every time you play the game presents a different set of challenges and opportunities at different parts of the game. As you explore with an upgraded ship, you can sail out to farther oceans to discover more rare parts, dangerous giant sea creatures, and even more.

The ships you build are governed by a universal real-time physics engine. Ships sail according to a physics engine that’s clearly sophisticated in that it controls how your ship sails and moves in the water. Wind and water conditions affect every bit of your ship’s trek as much as you being the captain.

The parts you use also come into play- larger parts mean a heavier ship which means harder turns and more weight to take on waves and wind. Lighter ships are agile but get blown away by wind and water. Everything you’d expect to affect your ship will affect your ship. It’s almost like real life.
