Similar to NIGHTSTAR: Rogue Wings, Stellar Codex is another game that’s very similar to Star Fox.

It’s a 2D/3D shooter with an arcade touch- mixed with on-rails combat. It’s like Star Fox in many ways. You could see Stellar Codex as a very inspired game by Star Fox, but then again, there are no annoying squadmates buzzing around bugging you for help or pestering you with things you already know. You fly solo.

Your character is dubbed Jack Knight. You’re the leader of the Elite SABER Squadron. You discover aliens on that stem from the Stellar Codex. You need to lead your squadmates over there (but take on missions solo, since you’re badass like that) and battle species in a variety of hazardous environments like asteroids, spaceships, debris, and even stars.

The game is moderately paced with arcade-style graphics that are just mesmerizing. The camera is mainly in third-person, with an occasional top-down view like an arcade space shooter. You’re on rains for most of the game in a hectic battlefield with twists here and there. The top-down sections are fun and there are side-scrolling sections too. While the Stellar Codex offers a nice rounded style of gameplay, it is pretty much said that the 3D parts are the best. I mean, you’re gunning through space blasting enemies with multiple weapons and dodging obstacles in a fast-paced shooter. What’s more to say? Just play it already and see it for yourself.

Your target can be aimed independently of your ship as well. You have free aim.

Even in alpha, the game looks very polished and has very few issues. It’s a blast to play. The only problems that I can point out are that the game can be too difficult at a few chokepoints. If you like Star Fox, you’ll need to play this game.

Catch the train. Kill the bad guys. Grab the cash!

Guns ‘n’ Stallions is a quick game with retro graphics. The menus, transitions, and music are all awesome and very well done.

There’s a train robbery in place and you need to board a train and shoot down baddies and take the money back.

It’s a side-scroller with pixel graphics. It’s a 2.5D third-person run and gunner. It’s a blast.

Ride horses. Shoot down baddies. Get pickups. Use crates for cover. It’s a blast from the past. The visuals, music, and sound effects all come together to make Guns ‘n’ Stallions a winner. Be sure to collect moonshine for HP and use your horse to catch up to the train. You also have to reload as well, so keep an eye on your ammo. You use RMB to aim and LMB to shoot. WASD moves your character. R is reload. Space is jump. The controls are easy enough.

If you like retro shooters or arcade shooters, you’ll like this game. It’s currently in “pre-alpha” so it’s just in the beginning works.

It was built for CGA Jam and it’s an awesome entry.

Desert Child is an RPG game where you ride on a hoverbike to race and shoot your way through different levels. You need to get currency to buy stuff, avoid taking damage on the road and beat your enemies in the race.

You start out as a racer with no money. All you have is an antique bike. You need to win to earn cash so you can fly to Mars to further your career. Sounds interesting?

Desert Child is very difficult.

You need to have quick reflexes to handle the chaotic split-second turns, opponents, random cash drops, and dodging damage. Your bike requires repairs, which requires cash. You even have personal expenses, such as food. And you need to buy upgrades, of course.

It’s not an easy game. You’ll be playing it over and over because of the difficulty.

The graphics and artwork are amazing. The animation is fluid. The speed is crazy.

Desert Child is a game that’ll have you on edge and makes an entertaining game to play.
