Depraved is a neat little city builder with survival elements combined. It plays like an older builder sim.

It’s a top-down game with some old-school graphics that’ll remind you RuneScape or something. You need to establish a city, expand your towns, and build outposts in order to help your city dwellers survive. The game takes place during Wild West times or something like that. Don’t quote me.

The game has a variety of inhabitants such as pioneers, settlers, and citizens. Each does their own thing and acts accordingly. You need to satisfy their needs and meet basic resources like food, water, and firewood.

Each class is good at something and you need to fully utilize them in order to prosper your town. Nurturing them with resources will help them build up your village and expand it. Supply chains and outposts will later be needed in order to protect them from wild animals, starvation, attacks, bandits, and diseases.

The game has procedurally-generated worlds so it never looks the same. Every resident has their own needs. You can also build production chains to further process goods and materials. The weather and seasons also change with time.

Depraved is still widely in early development but has been out for a while. If you like city builders, try out this game. It has a lot of attention to detail and is one of the newer indie city builders I’ve come across that offers something unique.

Winterfall is an awesome new RPG that lets you freely explore a huge, gorgeous, lush world.

The game takes place in a fantasy world with an old kingdom that’s been long-abandoned. You play as an adventurer who’s traveling in the land of Anor which was once flourishing but now has been destroyed by the elements. You look through the empty ruins and try to uncover the history of this once busy kingdom through secrets and items you discover.

However, you’re not all alone. It looks like there are few key NPCs you need to watch out for that have ulterior motives. These few individuals want to end your lineage for good. You can create a range of character with unique personalities and goals.

The combat is real-time with blocking, attacking, defending, and everything in between.

Winterfall is an action RPG that uses a third-person camera as you explore the area. You can build your own sanctuary, sort of like a barrier to protect yourself from the coming winter. The game has lush and gorgeous realistic graphics that it almost looks like an actual world instead of a fantasy land. It has a real ecosystem full of flora and fauna that frolicks the huge landscapes of this kingdom. Your actions also leave consequences behind a la Fable.

Winterfall looks like it’ll be a nice exploration game with a unique art style that throws you into a huge world for you to explore alone. it gives you that sense of nature and mesmerizing landscapes as you traverse through tall mountains, snowy caps, seas, rivers, fields, forests, and more. It’s like Morrowind in a way.

It combines RPG with resource management as you build your Sanctuary, so it’s like a town builder as well. You can pick between different cultures and characters. You have to build it, defend it, and expand it. It’s a city builder hybrid, which I have never seen that often other than very specific genres. It’s a welcome addition. Seriously.

Modlands is an awesome little SimCity-like game where you build up a city with a twist.

For starters, it has Twitch support which means your viewers can play with you cooperatively and live in your city as colonists! If you’re a Twitch streamer, this is an awesome way to get your viewers involved. You can even play competitively against them via Twitch chat!

It features both single-player offline modes and also online with Twitch players. You can have your audience members create their own characters and partake their own role in your city! Whether this is co-op survival that pits the streamer and viewers together against monsters or a competitive mode where the streamer and viewers duke it out like a split faction, it promises a ton of fun.

For non-streamers, Modlands is a city builder which has you in control over a tiny colony in a rural area. You’re in charge of expanding a small tribe of voxel-based characters and you need to aid them in building up their town. The game has tons of resource management so you’ll be exploring new lands, crafting items, building new structures, and even defending your colony from attacking foreign enemies!

If you’ve played games like SimCity, you’ll get it right away. it’s the same thing but with a lot more control. The graphics are also voxel-based so you get blocky gameplay like Minecraft.

You can tell your colonists do anything. Harvest resources, gather wood, explore lands, and even craft items. You can even chain structures together to build giant factories to create items for you.

You’ll also have to build structures and defend your people from baddies! They come out at night and you’ll have to gather them all into houses you built to keep them same.

Modlands combines Minecraft, SimCity, and Starcraft all into one awesome strategic city builder. The game can easily hit it big time if more streamers adapt to playing this game, but it’s already extremely addicting with just one player offline using AI. If you like strategic games, you need to try out Modlands. It’s a very fun game that’ll have you glued to your screen for days.

Holyday City Reloaded (yes, that’s how you spell it) is a new clicker game that has you building up your city.

Think SimCity. Now think Clicker Heroes. Now combine them into one. That’s Holyday City Reloaded. Kinda.

It’s an idle clicker game where you’ll need to build up your city by getting money. You can build a ton of different buildings like cafes, nightclubs, science labs, hotels, factories, and more. When you build a new structure, it benefits your citizens and makes you profit. You reinvest that profit back into your city to make even more money.

There are also plenty of unlockables like facilities, airports, marinas, ships, aquariums, and even an atomic lab. The game advertises itself to be the “best and most accurate” capitalism simulator. While this is true in some way, it should be taken lightly. It’s a humorous approach kind of like Adventure Capitalist.

The game has a variety of buildings you can “enter” that each has different functions. You have an office building where you can interview people to hire, for example.

The buildings can also be upgraded. You can buy a coffee grinder for your cafes to keep your citizens happy. You can buy an airport to export goods and trade with other countries. You can send your ship off on adventures.

The game also has events based on real-world holidays that last for a limited time.

When you get big, you can unlock prestige items like jets to private islands. These can be shown off to your Steam friends in order to be the snobby capitalist you are.

(The game takes place in menus with detailed pictures, you don’t actually get to move around in the game).

If you’ve never played a clicker game before, that’s pretty much how they work in a nutshell. You need to click in order to make money.

You have a general “level” that ranges from 1 to 35. As you expand your city and make it more profitable, your level will increase. You start out with a small town that you can rapidly expand into a city, followed by a metropolis. If you really work at it, you’ll eventually blossom into a huge, skyline city. You’re the mayor and all you want is money. That’s the goal!

There’s also plenty of upgrades and technologies to invest in to improve your city. You can even invest in contracts with other AI players.

The game also has this “trophy system” where you can earn and collect them for later viewing. You earn these by winning battles in the markets. We didn’t really test this feature, but rather saw it in-game. It’s a nice thing to have for achievement hunters.

You don’t need to give this game your full attention. It can easily be run in the background while you play or do something else, but if you focus on it constantly, you’ll have an advantage of buying stuff right when you have enough cash to build up faster.

The game’s still in early access, but it plays pretty well and looks good visually. It runs offline even when you’re not playing it. Holyday City Reloaded is like a game that mishmashes all the best parts about city sims and clicker games and puts it into one. The strategy is actually pretty deep and immersive.
