Quarantined: Viscerafest is an old-school FPS game like DOOM.

You run and round and gun down hordes of baddies and other creatures that travel between dimensions. Just like DOOM, your hero will crack jokes here and there with some one-liners. However, it’s a girl this time.

You play as Caroline Fetter, a girl who you’d swear is Duke Nukem’s sister. She’s on a hunt to hunt down a warlock and save the planet. Who cares about the story? It’s all about the action! you’ll run around and shoot down tons of creatures with a variety of weapons. Prepare for some adrenaline-fueled combat with branching paths, beefy weapons, and tons of action. This is a true homage to the past retro classics with awesome pixel artwork, weapons, and gameplay elements.

HapyFile is a puzzle game that takes place on your desktop. It seems recently we’ve been playing a lot of games that all take place on the desktop for some reason.

Anyway, the point is where you need to arrange your shortcuts on your desktop in a way that allows a lost file to navigate back to your computer. You need to help this lone file across your desktop back to your “cornmputer.” You can’t control it directly, but you can launch and rearrange other programs in order to get it to move.

One program is called Block. Its used as a barrier to or platform so you can build a bridge to allow the file to cross. The Jumpy program is the other one and it launches the file up int he air. Both programs have cooldowns after you use them and you need to manage your programs because you have limited RAM just like a real computer. There are a limited amount of programs you can have at any given point!

Some puzzles are easy and some are difficult. The game is entertaining enough to keep you busy- especially if you’ve grown up with Windows 95!

Comic Boll is a game that’ll instantly remind you of Sonic.

It’s a game where you need to race through the levels as a small ball that has the ability to beat up enemies, yet rolls around through the levels like Sonic. It’s like if Sonic were a beat ’em up game, but Comic Boll goes further because it combines gameplay elements from games like Astro Boy Omega Factor from the GBA era. It’s hard to explain. Just play it.

The developer says the game is a remake a previous title called Bolinha, which was made back in 2006 based on some previous comic work.

So, as you roll around, there are a ton of enemies to fight and you’ll have to be careful as you roll around because the game is pretty tough. You have limited HP and you can roll, punch, combo, and even dodge bullets in real time. there are also plenty of special items that give you buffs. If you’ve played any retro platformer (that was go0d), Cosmic Boll plays similarly. The work in this game shows.

Comic Boll is a unique game with its cheery visuals and gameplay that makes you feel like you’re playing something from the N64 days. Try out this happy little platformer.

Dream Dasher is a pretty hand-drawn 2D platformer where you dash nonstop in order to progress- as you may have guessed from the title of the game!

Well, it’s not really nonstop. You have to time it in order to get across gaps that fall into the endless abyss in order to make it through each level. Each level has multiple branching paths with plenty of goodies to be found. You’re a small ball who can roll, jump, and dash, and you’ll need to utilize all of your abilities to make it through the game’s levels.

The artwork for this game is gorgeous. It’s truly hand-drawn with amazing sprites and animations. The game has 6 levels to play through with one boss level to get through using an overworld hub with plenty of cute NPCs to talk to and areas to explore. You’ll feel like you’re playing a mix of Sonic and a bit of Mario (old-school) as you play through the game. You’ll also have to kill enemies. Every one you attack grants you a shield that blocks a single hit. It’s kind of cool.

Some levels are easy, but others are hard. You’ll have to combine your attacks together in order to get across some gaps in the game, which will net you a nice score to gloat over.

Overall, Dream Dasher is a fast-paced and pretty platformer with quality and polished gameplay. Try it out if you like platformers with some pretty artwork.

Heaven’s Point is an awesome retro beat ’em up adventure game that’ll instantly remind you of games like Streets of Rage and River City Ransom!

If you’ve played either of these classics, you’ll know exactly what this game is all about. It’s a game where you need to use your fists to kill the gang who kidnapped your friend. It plays like a sidescroller and wail on random gang members to take them down once and for all!

There are even NPCs that are completely innocent that you can kill if you want in order to get some fast cash- well I think you kill them because they drown in a pool of their own blood. The majority of people in the game are innocent and you need to find the bad guys in order to progress in the game. They’re often back streets as cliche as it sounds. Shop, explore, and do whatever you want in this game. It’s like beat ’em ups without the rails.

You’ll have fun wandering the streets and exploring the lit city as there are plenty of things to look at, use, pick up, and interact with. The game even has a built-in cell phone where you can call people. You can even interact with various people to buy stuff like a few cold ones after a day out with some thugs!

Heaven’s Point is still early in its development, but you can play the first 20 minutes or so for the game. The artwork is colorful and old-school with that perfect animation that just screams retro. The music is ambient and reminds you of the arcade cabinets in the 80s. And the city is booming and has a ton of stuff to do. Try out the game for yourself and take down the street thugs!

Wake Up is a horror game that’ll instantly remind you of the good old days when survival horror wasn’t mainstream.

Remember games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill with their fixed camera angles and tank controls? Wake Up is a recreation of it as you wake up in a low-poly PS1-era dream world. Your only objective is a navigate the world and get through the nightmare. It involves puzzles, monsters, and tons of weird trippy mixed reality scenes.

The game is very short and only takes about 20 minutes to complete. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deliver the horrifying experience you’d expect from an old-school horror game. The audio and visuals are spot-on and the ambiance will just have you frozen in fear at some parts. The game plays like a dream where you need to travel to various locations with no recollection of why you’re there and what you’re doing. As you progress, the game gets more and more freaky.

Blackout is an old-school narrative survival game that’ll instantly remind you of Oregon Trail back in elementary school.

You guide a group of survivors through a known, but dangerous route with a ton of hazards. The events are scripted though, so ti’s pretty much the same game every time. but this lets you learn from your past mistakes for your second venture. Because chances are you ain’t gonna make much progress the first time around! It’s pretty difficult when you play it at first because the logic is nothing but logical. You have to think in a different way in order to progress- but I don’t want to spoil it too much.

The game takes place in an apocalyptic world where an EMP wave-like thing wiped out all electronics. Survivors need to look for resources and steal from other people in order to survive the world. It’s like a world without electronics- everything’s gone to shambled.

You control a small group of survivors where you need to try to guide them towards lights int eh sky, which may be a sign of salvation. Each one is unique in needs and status that you’ll have to learn how to manage well in order to maintain their state.

Blackout is far from being complete. It currently offers a very short playtime of about 12 minutes and only covers the beginning of the game. You’ll encounter many different hazards and will be forced to make decisions in order to progress. Try it out if you like games like Oregon Trail. It’s a new take on it.

Darkade is a horror game that has you exploring an old Breakout arcade cabinet and reaching way beyond what you could ever imagine.

It’s a surreal and atmospheric experience as you explore what goes on within a simple arcade game. You’ll encounter some dark and nasty secrets about the game exploration and puzzle-solving. It’s a very weird and surreal experience and one of those horror games that branches off from the mainstream types of games.

Baldi’s Basics is a creepy 90s edutainment game. It’s a horror game. Seriously.

If you’ve played games like Sonic’s Schoolhouse, 3D Dinosaur Adventure, or even I.M. Meen, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. They’re those games that used chunky 3D graphics and had some very things that made it creepy- I”m talking about the random things. Random objects, action, animations, and other things that are just so weird they’re creepy.

Baldi’s Basics takes the same concept and puts it all into one package. Let me try to explain how this game works.

You’re a student in a school and there’s a guy running around slapping a rule against his palm. This is Baldi. He’s an angry teacher or something wearing a green shirt and looking to give you a spanking with his ruler.

Your mission is to run around the school and AVOID Baldi no matter what. If you get caught, you go to detention. You need to collect 7 notebooks located throughout the school without running into Baldi in the rooms and hallways. Think Slender: Edutainment Edition.

Yup, that’s right. It’s a creepy horror game.

Baldi runs around the school constantly on your tail. He’ll try to trap you around the corner or lock you in a hallway. You can see him coming or listen for his ruler slapping against his palm. Every time you find a notebook, you have to answer 3 math questions. The first 2 are easy, but the last one is impossible (you’ll see why). If you get any of them wrong (you have to), it makes Baldi angrier. The angrier Baldi gets, the faster he slaps his ruler and faster he moves. Don’t get caught.

As you run around the school collecting the notebooks, you’ll find Baldi’s friends. Without spoiling the game, you’ll encounter some VERY weird objects and people that will attempt to slow you down, push you back, or even withhold you so Baldi will catch you. Avoid them and do what’s necessary to not get caught!

If Baldi catches you, you’re in for a jumpscare with some very disorienting noise.

There’s literally no other game I can think of like this one. Baldi’s Basics starts off like a typical 90s educational game but quickly evolves into a terrible mess of creepy horror. You’ll have no idea what you’re playing and constantly question everything.

The game’s environment is very random- you’ll see random objects, pictures on the walls, fidget spinners, and a staff lounge. The game is so random that you’ll feel like you’re having a surreal dream or something. It’s actually very well done even though it looks very unpolished- but that adds to the 90s feel.

As you traverse the halls, watch out for Baldi, They’re narrow so it’s easy tog et caught! If you see him coming, turn around and RUN. That’s just a tip I can give you.

You’ll find lots of objects you can use to replenish your stamina or help you stop Baldi. Use them to slow or distract him down when you’re in a tight space. You can also send him the other direction with some items which you’ll need if you want to escape him and not get sent to detention.

It’s one of those indie horror games where the character isn’t that scary and the game isn’t supposed to be scary- but it’s so well done in a subtle way that it becomes scary. You’ll see what I mean when you play it. I think the game also has multiple endings as well depending on how you play.

Overall, it’s just so weird that it’s creepy. There’s no describing it. The sound. The atmosphere. The jumpscares. It’s an educational horror game.

PALPUS is a Rambo-style platformer game that’ll have you nostalgic for Contra.

You play as a heroic lone fighter who needs to find the way through huge 2D sidescrolling levels of gorgeous colorful old-school retro pixel art that are dominated by cyborg robots and warriors. The gameplay is similar to old-school classics like Contra, Turrican, and Mega Man.

You can shoot in a linear fashion in front of you exclusively, so you’ll have to do a lot of jump shots to take down baddies all over the map. If an enemy is in the air, you’ll have to jump and shoot. This is the same control scheme as Mega Man and Contra and should be no issue- especially if you grew up with these hardcore action platformers.

It’s all about jumping, killing, and shooting in nonstop chaos! You get different weapons, grenades, and lots of enemies to shoot. Each gun has pros and cons so you need to bring out the right gun for the right situation. It supports Xbox Gamepad as well if you don’t like using a mouse/keyboard combination.

There are a few hidden level and items as well for you to discover- so there’s a sense of exploration too if you’re not engorged with dodging projectiles.

PALPUS features four full levels each with lots of action, gore, platforming, and some very tight jumps and combat areas. The game is very fast-paced with nearly no time to take a break other than the straight platforming sections. There’s always something going on. Sparks flying, projectiles to dodge, robots shattering to bits and pieces, humans blowing up into gory bits, and moving platforms to time your jumps!

There are bosses at the end of each level that are tough to beat if you don’t know how to time your shots. The game isn’t too tough, but you need to be able to work quickly and make split-second decisions or get devoured by cyborg robots! You get a variety of power-ups like energy shields and weapon enhancements to use to your own advantage and cash to upgrade your stuff permanently or buy new items from shops located in each level.

PALPUS is a pretty fun game to just break out for some cheap thrills. It pays homage to the classics and works pretty well for some nonstop action platforming. The control is kind of off and makes some parts more difficult than they need to be, but you’ll get used to it quickly. If you like action platforming, try out PALPUS using the link below.
