Okay. So Halloween’s coming up and I thought “why not try out this weird Janitor simulator that looks somewhat horrific?”

I probably shouldn’t have.

Janitor’s Day is a first person, low-poly game made in Unity where you literally walk around in an office after hours. You’re actually working overnight and you start to notice some weird things going on.

The game plays like many others that were made in Unity, but there’s one thing about this game that you probably won’t expect. The whole game builds up suspense until you hit the ending part. The twist is all there.

For those who play horror, you’ll probably see the hints dropped along the game. Pretty freakin’ creepy. I totally regret playing it now.

There’s not much else I can say without spoiling the ending, so play it for yourself to find out.

Resident Evil RE(7)make is an awesome and spooktacular fan-made remake that lets you play through the original Resident Evil in 3D and first-person!

Yup. The original, 22-year-old classic back with a first-person perspective rather than the typically fixed camera mode. It feels like a whole new experience and the change from static to first-person is a trippy addition along with the newly redesigned textures, zombies, and new rooms with their challenging puzzles. There’s no tank controls, inventory management, and weird camera angles. But the game is still scary just like the original because zombies are now directly in your face!

It’s a nostalgic and new experience even for those who’ve played the game. The developer tweaked the layout of the mansion quite a bit with more rooms and puzzles to solve, plus the perspective itself makes shooting down evil baddies a lot easier, but then again, there’s limited ammo, so make your shots count!

The game is still scary with its atmospheric take especially now in first-person and the story is pretty difficult. Try out the original Resident Evil in this new, disgustingly scary take! There’s also a new Mercenaries feature which allows you to take down zombies in an arcade-like experience. Overall, it’s a very well-done RE remake and probably one of the best.

Bitter Tides is a psychological horror game that combines both puzzle and some stealth into one surreal experience.

It takes place in a dream world where you remember some incidents in your life and monsters run amok. The game is currently in a demo phase where you explore a scary dream through a puzzle adventure as you explore an old abandoned church. The atmosphere is spot-on and what you’d expect from a horror game with some very surreal textures and visuals.

The audio is also very well-done and ambient. It gives you this sense of apprehension and dread as you play through the game that constantly makes you want to shut it off but for some reason, you can’t. I could get through the first 10 minute without taking a break.

The horror itself is mainly through the atmosphere and a few well-placed jump scares here and there. It makes you really wonder what’s going on as everything is anything but reality. The game really puts you into a dream-like trance as you try to solve the puzzles. You’ll be scared to even wander around in order to explore what the area has to offer but you must if you wanna solve the puzzles in order to progress.

Room 303 is an atmospheric horror game that’s pretty awkward and scary at the same time.

For starters, there’s a person who got killed in the room with you. You just got up and you have no idea what happened and you don’t know who you are. You may have even killed the person with you. Who knows? Like many horror genre games, this is the typical setup.

Your only job is to clean up the room by putting the stuff away in the secret order. As you put stuff away, other stuff gets unlocked and can be interacted with. As you start to clean up the place, you’ll start to uncover the story. It’s a pretty surreal horror game worth playing if you like scary games. It’s pretty unsettling and with its dark narrative, you’ll be caught in constant suspense. Definitely worth a try! Play Room 303 using the link and try it out for yourself.

Secret Neighbor is an awesome upcoming multiplayer horror game that takes place within the Hello Neighbor universe.

Players will attempt to sneak into their neighbor’s house, but the catch is that one of them is a Neighbor in disguise. It takes place during the interval of Act 1 and 2 of the original game. You and a group of friends (or strangers) need to break into your neighbor’s house and rescue a friend that’s kidnapped is the basement.

However, one or more of the players is actually a Neighbor in disguise and must pretend to play along in order to scare and confuse the other players. It takes the original concept of single-player stealth horror and takes it up a notch with plenty of multiplayer chaos.

Co-op with friends and strangers? This is going to be awesome, scary fun.

Eldervale is a third-person horror game where you return to an old boarding school as you search for answers to your history.

The game will instantly remind you of horror classics like Resident Evil. You play as a girl named Ophelia Delaney. She’s a young girl who’s searching about the history of her family who used to own the boarding school. It was called The Delaney Institution which was used to house children who were a little strange to the local citizens. You lost contact with them after you were sent off with your aunt and haven’t heard from your family since then. So now you’re looking for some clues to your history.

The game is all about discovering the backstory behind the institution. It’s pretty scary in the tense way that you always feel like something is gonna jump out at you. You never ever feel safe in an asylum-like setting. It’s dark, cold, and damp. And you’ll soon discover some pretty horrible things inside. Without spoiling it, you’ll have to play Eldervale for yourself to find out.

Most of the clues are found through old paper clippings and notes, but a lot of it is just from seeing what’s happening in the institution. You solve basic puzzles and also encountered a few monsters here and there. The game is fully third-person instead of the static camera like in old-school horror games, but it has the tank controls. So it’s like a hybrid of the two. Taking down monsters is pretty difficult.

If you’re looking for some scares, play this game. It’s scary, old-fashioned, and very immersive as you play through the story. Plenty of puzzles, zombies, and backstory to uncover!

Exiles is a scary first-person horror title that’ll remind you of the classic Resident Evil games.

You find yourself lost in a strange science lab/factory setting that also has a giant mansion connected to it. There are tons of monsters swarming the place and you only want to escape- in fact, that’s all you can do. You’re armed with some basic weaponry, but the majority of the game has you exploring the environment looking for objects to help you escape. You have to solve some basic puzzles and also encounter some pretty bad jumpscares.

Exiles is currently in early development and offers about a half-hour of gameplay. The game has a creepy atmosphere that’ll immerse you into the game with plenty of scares, puzzles, and Resident Evil-type gameplay.

Woodsy is a horror first-person puzzle game where you explore some lost woods.

You start the game as a stranger locked outside your cabin in the woods. You have no keys to unlock your door, so you’re trapped outside. You need to go looking for the keys that you dropped somewhere in the forest. And that’s when things get spooky.

Woodsy is a short little horror adventure with nice retro pixel artwork. As you explore the scary forest, you’ll have to talk with the variety of monsters that live in it. It’s not really a jumpscare type of horror game, but rather learn about the tales of the monsters that inhabit the forest. I wouldn’t even say it’s really a horror game, but a horror-themed game.

You get the feeling that something will jump out at you anytime!

It’s a pretty short game and there are only a few basic puzzles, but the artwork, dialog, and presentation is awesome and makes Woodsy is a nice little adventure game for anyone to play. You’re also in for some unexpected surpises as well!
