Overcrowd is an awesome little indie isometric strategy game. It’s a “commute ’em up!”

If you’ve any of the Tycoon games, or you’re a fan of business-themed games, you’ll definitely want to check this game out. It’ll be available in Spring 2018 for early access.

You’re basically a transportation tycoon and you need to run, build, expand, and operate stations located in the London Underground. The game plays in a top-down isometric perspective like any other similar game in the same genre. You start out with a small station that’s relatively quiet and eventually, you’ll build your way into a super busy metro station.

You start working on the outer zones and move towards the center of the city and the largest station.

The ultimate goal is to minimize congestion between stations and keep all the commuters traveling efficiently and happy. But it’s a lot more difficult than it sounds!

Overcrowd has many hours of gameplay because each level throws a new scenario at you. You have a specific allocated budget that you must use wisely in order to beat the level. Obstacles like natural rock, staff management, and traffic flow optimization are just the icing on the cake. Every single station you need to overlook has a unique set of problems that you need to fix.

You have to hire security guards, medics, stewards, and even janitors to keep your hub clean. The game is detailed with tons of menus, notifications, and tools for you to examine and analyze in order to optimize your station. They each have unique skills and attributes, which can be leveled up as well. The game goes all out.

Each level has its own unique objectives and challenges. They also have a limited area of play. You need to build entrances and tracks in specific locations over 4 levels. There are rocks you can’t break that make your building and design a puzzle. If you complete a challenge, you can unlock better tech and staff (and stations).

A sandbox mode is also planned for the game.

The graphics are colorful and offer multiple levels of zoom. Each commuter randomly generated and can be utilized to better your traffic flow. They respond to the environment and have a happiness meter. You need to earn rep by keeping them happy. The game has a lot to offer for an indie game of this scale. It’s packed with a simple and colorful theme, but there’s a lot of strategic undertone to the whole game.

Shoppe Keep 2 is a fantasy business tycoon-esque game that builds off the of the original Shoppe Keep.

It’s made by Excalibur Games, which makes tons of simulator games

If you’ve never played the previous game, you’ in for a treat. You don’t need any knowledge of the series to dive right in. It’s pretty much a game that plays like an RPG, but instead of saving a kingdom on the verge of corruption, you’re only in to profit from the citizens in your city! Who cares about fighting mythical creatures and enchanting epic loot when you can erect a shop and build a monopoly and get TONS of cash doing so?

The game has you playing as nothing but a simple merchant who’s set out to establish a retail empire to sell the goods to knights, heroes, and adventures out to accomplish their quests. You sell the shovels. They dig for gold. Simply put.

You start out with a humble little Adventurer’s Shoppe where you supply them with all the basics- weapons, armors, and potions to traveling mercenaries.

And of course, you want to expand. That’s where the game gets very interesting. It plays like a tycoon simulator but on a very personal level. You focus on a much smaller scale rather than an entire country (depending on the tycoon game you’re thinking of). You can even build a two-story shoppe.

You get to manage everything from choosing the vendors to supply your goods, ordering robots to perform mundane tasks, and even creating new products for the wandering customers that improve upon older ones. The game has its own scoring system that decides whether a new product you create will be the next hot new product that every single dragon slayer must buy. It’s pretty freakin’ awesome.

You can even equip your own stock and deck yourself out. Then venture off into the forest out back and hunt down some monsters to get some awesome loot. With that loot, you can sell it or just keep it for your next venture.the game features distant lands where you can find super rare loot.

The game has RPG elements to it in that it’s not strictly just a business management game. There’s an actual game to play rather than just clicking on buttons. The game also has an adaptable economy as well. It changes according to other players that are also playing as well. Prices fluctuate.

But it’s not all fun and games being a humble little merchant.

There are thieves who try to steal your goods. There are angry citizens who want to attack your shoppe. And there are even in-store problems as well, such as demand surges where you’ll run out of stock and miss a frenzy of sales. Or you may order way too much stock and it’ll just sit there as sunk capital. The game mixes both RPG elements and tycoon elements into one hybrid kickass game.

The best part about Shoppe Keep 2 is that it has online multiplayer with friends! You can get your buddy to help you out and run the shop while you do inventory and purchase more goods! Or your friend can run the shop while you study the charts! Or how about if both of you go out and hunt some monsters to get some more loot to sell? Up to 4 players can join!

That’s awesome.

My Free Zoo is a zoo simulator where your goal is to transform an unpopular zoo into a popular tourist attraction.

If you’ve played Zoo Tycoon (or pretty much any Tycoon game), you’ll know exactly how this game works. It’s a sim where you need to build, manage, and promote your zoo in order to increase its value and attract paying customers.

These type of strategy games are very addicting and are just huge time drains because they’re super fun to play.

My Free Zoo isn’t the best name (it sounds kind of tacky), but the game does somewhat deliver.

You play as a zoo director and your job is to save it from going bankrupt. You can do all the essentials- build paths, habitats, provide food/water, entertainment, and even equipment for your animals. You can nurse anything from lions to grizzlies to even dinosaurs. You can also build snack booths, exotic exhibits, and decorations as well.

As you progress, you’ll unlock more exclusive animals like meerkats and elephants.

The game offers some unique buildings like nurseries for your animals’ offspring to delight visitors.

You earn Zoo Dollars which are used to promote, build, and reinvest back into your zoo. You can host seasonal events, take on quests, breed animals, and even compete with online players. My Free Zoo is online-based which is something that more and more tycoon sims are doing nowadays. you can form “friendships” and interact with other players, which is kind of interesting. But it doesn’t really add much to the game. You’ll be playing solo for most of it and won’t care for online interaction.

The graphics are colorful and appealing. They’re detailed and offer a variety of unique decorations for each animal and building. However, every animal is a clone of itself and so are the buildings.

The game does play pretty well, but there are some issues.

For starters, it’s pretty much a flash game. The game runs on the slower side and it does require pay-to-win in order to get things done faster. There are daily login bonuses and other ads that appear on the screen. It plays pretty much like an app or Facebook game, so its pain point is to make you wait unless you buy their currency.

Other than that, My Free Zoon is entertaining and makes a good idle game to kill some time. It’s free, but only if you’re willing to deal with wait times. It supports full-screen play and window mode as well. If you’re looking for a casual free tycoon game, try it out. It plays in the browser so you can start right away without downloading it.

Roxas Night Market is a quirky little tycoon game.

The game takes place on the streets of Davao City in the Philippines. You’ve been elected by the Mayor of the city to build up shops on Roxas Avenue and transform this empty block into a bustling, busy night market.

The game works like any other tycoon game. You have an initial cash investment to build up shops. You buy stalls that sell to the customers. You make money from sales. You then upgrade them and restock them. You can even build stuff like fountains to spruce up the place.

It’s pretty entertaining to see your empire slowly expanding as you build more shops to suit more customers. There are children, adults, and even banana-costumed customers. The game has a nice pixelated retro artwork to it and leaves a lot to your imagination. It also has retro music as well.

As the game gets busier, you start to get unique customers that only want a certain item. You need to satisfy all your patrons in order to succeed. You can also unlock special customers as well.

If you like micromanaging games and tycoon games, you’ll like Roxas Night Market. It’s a happy and cute game complete with a strategic twist.

Super Starcade PANIC is an indie arcade game where you play the role of a business CEO and you need to keep your arcade raking in the dough.

It’s a tycoon game where you’re in control of the arcade and your actions directly affect the businesses outcome.

It’s an 80’s arcade that’s going downhill in profits. Your job is to turn it around and get it back in business. You have 5 days to do so and you need to learn how to manage all your assets.

Each day begins anew with you having to pay the utility bill and buy some games. These are the two major expenses each day. After that, it’s all about taking care of your game center.

You need power for the games, and then you need to actually walk around and plug them in. The more arcade games you have, the more power that’s required. You need to decide which ones to turn on and which ones to leave off. It’s up to you to be the boss and decide. And games aren’t everything.

You also have to take care of popcorn, candy, and other accessories as well. All of these tie into a big electrical budget that you need to manage yourself.

You can view the fun rating of your arcade by seeing which games are popular and which aren’t. You can also see finer details- like how much cash each person has similar to Rollercoaster Tycoon. The point of the game is to get them to spend all their cash on your games so you can bring the arcade around.

Super Starcade PANIC is a fun little tycoon indie game and is worth a try. The graphics are retro, which is fitting to the game, and the game is very addictive and entertaining to play. Give it a try.
