Damsel is an awesome platformer game that’s based on super fast-paced gameplay as you jump, dodge, and blast your way through a gothic world.
The graphics are what you’ll notice first. They’re like a blend of old-school Donkey Kong levels mixed with modern platformers like Ori and the Blind Forest. They’re actually very appealing to look at and compliment the dark world pretty well.
You play as a character named Damsel, who’s on a mission to find out the status of a vampiric drink called “Red Mist.” It supposedly can help vampires satisfy their need for human blood without actually having to kill a human.
You’ll soon quickly learn that the company behind the drink had their formula way off, and that’s where you come into play.
You’ll have to blast through the levels with an awesome UV shotgun made just to blow the vampires’ to pieces. Each level consists of lots of timed jumps and precision jumps, some of which involve you having to shoot and jump simultaneously.
Agent Damsel has no fear though. The game is a very fast-paced platformer which leaves you little time to think and offers you tons of missions broken down into miniature bite-sized tasks rather than level-long missions. You have to complete tasks like killing all vampires, collecting objects, saving hostages, and other things.
The UI features a score meter which sprites a bunch of numbers so you can see your points in real time. You get points based on combat, bonus tasks, and speed. There are also collectibles littered throughout each level you can find which add to your total score.
If you’re looking for an awesome, fast indie platformer that’s packed with action, look no further.
Try out Damsel and get that trigger-happy fix.
