Anibals is an awesome multiplayer sports combat game.
The game pits you against another team in a round of twister soccer. You choose one of the three classes available- defender, attacker, and goalkeeper. Each class is unique (obviously) and has their own special abilities…called Super Abilities. You’ll need to use and master these abilities in order to take advantage of the game and catch the enemy team off-guard.
There are also three different types of balls in the game. There’s the regular Ball, the Super Ball, and the Ultimate Ball. Each ball changes the gameplay dramatically, so it’s another variable you need to watch out for. Each ball is dropped in a supply drop, so it’s somewhat randomized and changes the game. But it’s based on elapsed time so you can predict it.
It features a top-down camera view with fast-paced action. It’s skill-based at its core with skillshots and timing, but there are also enough random variables to change the outcome of the game. I wouldn’t say it can be played competitively in its current state, but it’s still in Early Access, so who knows.
You can currently team up with your friends and play an enemy team, or you can play against bots. You play as an “animal” in a team of three, each with 3 different classes (as said previously). You choose your class, character, and your team. You’ll need to play together and work cooperatively to win. You win by scoring goals with the ball. You have a score and time panel at the top center of your screen, so keep your eyes on it. You also have a stamina bar you need to watch out for.
Here are some tips:
- Each goal is worth five points.
- Each round has three supply drops.
- The Super Ball gives you ten points when it’s spawned, and it always spawns within the first two drops.
- The last drop is the Ultimate Ball and only comes when there’s one minute left. It’s worth twenty points a goal. This can make or break the game.
- You can steal the ball from another animal by being near it and looking at it
Controls:
WASD = Move
Mouse = Direction
LMB = Shoot/Tackle
Shift = Sprint
Esc = Options
The game is best played with friends. I had a blast teaming up with two buddies and going against bots.
Anibals is still very new in alpha, so it’s not polished yet. But it’s still very fun to play and entertaining to watch (Let’s Players?). Play it with friends for maximum enjoyment. Try it out. It’s a unique concept.
- Unique concept
- Choose from 3 classes with 3 different ball types
- Skill-based gameplay with variables
- Team up with friends and work together to win
- Play against bots if you have no friends
- Some gameplay balance issues (attacker is OP)
- Needs some more polish
- Physics can be kinda off
