SORE is an experience that focuses on entrancing the player into a minimalistic universe.
You play as a walking avatar who ended up getting trapped inside a camera with no escape. It’s an experimental, trippy game that goes over some philosophical and theoretical points of human existence. The game is pretty quick, so I won’t be able to say much without spoiling it. After all, it was designed just for the experience so reviewing it in-depth would defeat the purpose (it’s also the same story every playthrough).
The game has you playing as an 8-bit avatar in an 8-bit world. There are a few dialogue boxes here and there, but the majority of the game has you just walking around and exploring. There isn’t any real objective to it, other than just questioning your existence. SORE touches over a few debated topics in the philosophical realm, such as freedom, acceptance, symbolism, achievement, and existence.
It’s a pretty dark and gloomy game but it has an interesting tale to tell. It was Greenlit on steam by the players and it has decent reviews for what it is.
Try out SORE. It’s a quick little immersive experience perfect for a Let’s Play or just to escape reality for a bit.
- Immersive storyline
- Philosophical nudges
- Unique concept
- It’s hit or miss (like it or hate it)
