Logan Kart 8 (Complete) – A Fan-Made Mario Kart Parody with Guaranteed Laughs

Game Review

Logan Kart 8 is a fan-made parody of Mario Kart 8- and it’s awesome.

It’s pretty much Mario Kart 8 with all the best levels and highlights of all the games in the series combined into one game. It’s been built from scratch to provide the fast-paced, goofy little kart game you’d expect in a fan game based on Mario Kart.

It’s like playing Mario Kart with a bunch of random weapons, characters, and karts. You can tell it’s based on Mario Kart, but it’s not exactly it. But if you’ve played any of the games, you’ll easily get the references to the original series.

The game features 9 different karts with 8 different characters to choose from. You’ll instantly recognize a few of the characters (they’re basically characters from the Mario franchise with very minor adjustments that you may even call copyright infringement), and some of the characters are original and never-before-seen!

Choose your characters and your kart, and then take on the races on a few different tracks that are full of references and tribute to the original game (I-5 Loop, Waluigi Vending Machine, Sea-Tac Circuit, and tons more!). The entire game features 16 tracks and 4 competitive cups for you to try out!

For those who are into time trials and Grand Prix, Logan Kart 8 also includes those modes as well.

True to the original, the game is less about skill and more about having a fun time. There’s a physics system that’s just plain whacky and frustrating at the same time. There’s an original OST, a host of sound effects, and even lighting effects.

Logan Kart 8’s levels have environmental hazards and challenges, and it takes some degree of skill to learn and master them. You also get items to use to slow down, blast apart, and get ahead of your opponents. Some of these you’ll recognize straight from the Mario Kart universe, but some of them are brand-new, such as the Golden Blue Shell.

There are also 6 race classes to master, unlike the 3 different classes in the original Mario Kart 64. The hardest difficulties are very…difficult. It’s pretty much Mario Kart 150cc on steroids. It’s nearly uncontrollable.

And the best part? Multiplayer.

That’s right. Logan Kart 8 has full VS Mode for split-screen multiplayer races with up to 4 players, or 2 players using the same keyboard. If you play with 4 players, you can each have your own gamepads as well. If you play with 2 players, you can share the same keyboard to keep it simple. Whether you’re playing solo, or with 1 friend, or 3 friends, keyboard support, and gamepad support are all there. Any combination goes.

The game is built for PC and the controls work pretty well even on a keyboard. It also has a graphics setting adjuster so you can turn quality down or up depending on your rig- now that’s dedication. Most games don’t have this feature at all. And it also has gamepad and joystick support!

The keybindings can also be mapped as you wished.

Logan Kart 8 is one of the best multiplayer games we’ve played all year. And it’s the perfect game to start off 2018!

And thanks to you for reading our stuff. Here’s to an awesome new year! Thank you for being a part of Peach’s Castle!
