TUBE is a fantastic fast-paced racer game that’ll remind you of F-Zero.
You control a spaceship from the future in a psychedelic tunnel. The only objective is to race through the level as fast as you possibly can. The levels are filled with hazards like rolling gears, fans, tunnels, bricks, and roadblocks. The game offers absolutely no mercy and raging is guaranteed.
You have the ability to dodge, dash, and even do a barrel roll while you hover through the twisting and winding tracks. The main move you’ll be using is dashing because it’s super useful for getting an extra speed boost to get a nice time.
If you hold down the dash button, you can speed yourself up and get the best possible time. You don’t actually race other players, but rather you try to beat the clock.
But you need to use the other abilities as well. You can dodge and barrel roll to quickly move left or right so you can dodge obstacles that appear. You can also jump and leap off ramps for quite a distance. If you push back on the control stick, you can actually fly temporarily. This is actually pretty cool. You can hover this way.
The game plays similar to Super Meat Boy.
TUBE is a very difficult game that requires twitch reflexes. If you’re not fast enough, you’ll smash into something and it’s game over. You’ll only progress through trial-and-error. If you fail, you’ll have to try again. It’s rage-inducing. Every track is possible to beat, but it’s not easy at all. The tracks get more difficult as you progress.
If you’re in for a challenge, TUBE is worth checking out. The graphics fit the genre and the fast-paced, ragey gameplay are perfect. You’ll need some patience to play this game. Get ready to rage quit. It’s built for that.
