Climate Box is a pretty awesome climate simulator. Actually, it’s the first of its kind.
It plays as a sandbox game where you control the weather. It’s aimed to be a realistic and accurate weather simulator for weather and climate change in a set environment.
You basically get to terraform the environment. You can simulate a lot of “what if” scenarios and see what would exactly happen if it were to actually take place. You can see how one small impact on the ecosystem can affect everything else as it propagates through the entire system. It’s sort of like the Butterfly Effect. You can see how changing one thing affects everything else. It’s actually pretty interesting to play around with and you’ll learn a thing or two about the weather. Even the smallest variables have a big impact.
There are residential, industrial, and other buildings just like in real life. And there are scenic environments as well. It’s up to you to change the environment and see what it does.
And it’s also open-source, so it’s freely mod-able. I can see this actually becoming pretty big if it were to take off. Free. Open-source. Sandbox. It has all the right variables so far.
Try out Climate Box for yourself and play with the weather. It’s the one and only weather simulator.
