Realm Royale is a spinoff game from the same developers of Paladins.

It takes the same concept but throws in some mounts, crafting, heroes, spells, and other hero-based elements into a MOBA-style Battle Royale. Is this the mixing of two of the most popular genres into one game? Yes.

Players can choose between five classes each with unique abilities. You can choose from an assassin, warrior, hunter, engineer, or mage.

This genre is beyond saturated, but this game stands out with its MOBA-style elements. If you’re looking for something a little different, this is well worth trying. The game is made by the same team as Smite and Tribes: Ascend, so you know there’s some good stuff. You can loot skills, equips, and even craft legendary items at forges which leaves you vulnerable so make you got backup. The game is currently available for alpha testing.

Eldervale is a third-person horror game where you return to an old boarding school as you search for answers to your history.

The game will instantly remind you of horror classics like Resident Evil. You play as a girl named Ophelia Delaney. She’s a young girl who’s searching about the history of her family who used to own the boarding school. It was called The Delaney Institution which was used to house children who were a little strange to the local citizens. You lost contact with them after you were sent off with your aunt and haven’t heard from your family since then. So now you’re looking for some clues to your history.

The game is all about discovering the backstory behind the institution. It’s pretty scary in the tense way that you always feel like something is gonna jump out at you. You never ever feel safe in an asylum-like setting. It’s dark, cold, and damp. And you’ll soon discover some pretty horrible things inside. Without spoiling it, you’ll have to play Eldervale for yourself to find out.

Most of the clues are found through old paper clippings and notes, but a lot of it is just from seeing what’s happening in the institution. You solve basic puzzles and also encountered a few monsters here and there. The game is fully third-person instead of the static camera like in old-school horror games, but it has the tank controls. So it’s like a hybrid of the two. Taking down monsters is pretty difficult.

If you’re looking for some scares, play this game. It’s scary, old-fashioned, and very immersive as you play through the story. Plenty of puzzles, zombies, and backstory to uncover!

Paracusia is a third-person survival horror game indie adventure where you need to escape from an “abandoned” movie theater.

It really draws from the Resident Evil atmosphere back in PSX days. The game will throw you back into the early 90s with the classic horror you’d expect. You have tank controls, resource management, puzzles, monsters, and the iconic static camera. What’s especially creepy about Paracusia is the atmosphere. It has the RE feel, but at the same time, the monsters are a lot more horrifying in my opinion.

RE is known for zombies, but Paracusia takes it to a whole new level. The monsters are like straw scarecrows or something and they all wear white masks like No Face. They come in different sizes and readily attack you. The game has a creepy atmosphere and plenty of tense times and scary jumps. It’s a very immersive experience that’ll make you think this was a Resident Evil fan game.

Of course, it comes with the traditional problems that older horror games had. The camera does jump and you get jump shock and weird camera positions. Aiming is difficult. Combat is blocky. But it’s awesome. It’s just what you’d want from an older survival horror game. The limited resources also mean you need to conserve ammo or else resort to your knife, which will probably get you killed.

Paracusia is definitely a horror game worth checking out. The atmosphere, narrative, and storyline are good. And it’s still in development. If you like old-school survival horror definitely give the game a try.

Safeguards is a new futuristic multiplayer game where the focus is team-based vehicle combat.

It’s kinda like any typical FPS, except that you play in a fully-customizable vehicle that you build with tons of different parts and accessories. Think World of Tanks or Heroes in the Sky. But with futuristic vehicles instead.

You’re pitted against another team in heavy vehicles that can be modulated with tons of different weapons like lasers, cannons, plasma guns, and more. Each weapon can also have extra abilities attached to them as well. So it’s like a weapon with an active ability you can use at your command.

There are also a ton of defensive equips like shields, armor, and even repair drones that heal your teammates and drones that reveal hidden enemies. The customization is pretty deep even for a beta game.

Your vehicle is your Safeguard.

The game looks pretty good and is open for beta sign ups. You can win a key to be one of the first to play Safeguards. I can see this game being a very fun team-based strategy shooter if it takes off and even has the potential for expert-level gameplay.
