Duck Jam (Early Access) – An Nonstop Action WarioWare-Style Game with Guaranteed Laughs

Game Review

Duck Jam is a party game- where you play through a whole bunch of party games!

If you’ve played anything like WarioWare or Mario Party before (seriously, who hasnt?), you’ll fit right in with Duck Jam. It’s a game composed of lots of smaller games each lasting 5 seconds long, just like WarioWare.

Save some (major) cash on games at our sister site, cuddlewars.

The story goes as a bunch of ducks who happen to destroy their own nice things, so now they have to get some cash in order to replace such nice things. They get cash from completing random tasks, which in this case, are the minigames you have to complete.

So, go ahead and help out a band of ducks buy some stuff. It’s just another day, right?

The game is pretty awesome. The little minigames have WarioWare-style animations and range from novel takes on common minigames (like Frogger) to ripoffs of classic games like Super Mario. It’s glorious.

Each minigame gives you a brief set of instructions that flash on the screen and you have just 5 seconds to complete the minigame. If you win, you get “bills” (hah). If you don’t, you just upset a bunch of ducks.

The humor in Duck Jam is nonstop. You’ll have this weird grin on your face as you’re trotting through all the minigames. The game is very fluid and polished. The minigames range from super easy to very difficult, depending on how fast you can think and react. Some games are super easy and you’ll pick up right away. Others will have you staring at the screen puzzled for 5 seconds and not knowing what exactly just happened. There’s a nice variety of them to keep you busy for at least an hour. It’s all part of the fun.

There are tons of little references to other games. Spotting them while playing and trying to multitask will have you yelling out references to your buddy with one finger pointing at the screen and the other trying to complete the game. It’s very fun with other people. There’s also a nice background soundtrack that complements the action well and it’s actually very catchy.

If you’re just looking to have some guaranteed “raised bills” (laughs) and a good time (especially with a friend), play Duck Jam. I ain’t kiddin’.
