Time Raid (Early Access) – Travel Back in Time and Work with Yourself

Game Description

Time Raid is a puzzle adventure game where you need to go back in time and solve puzzles…with yourself.

Yeah, did you get that?

In essence, you play as yourself and you need to travel back in time in small chunks. You have to solve puzzles involving many different situations that will remind you of Portal.

You’re a test subject and you need to get across a series of lab experiments. You only have the ability to travel backward in short distances. The only “real-time” accompaniment you have is an AI robot called Alice. She’s humorous and kind of blunt at the same time.

Whenever you travel backward, you need to kill yourself to do so. This is necessary in order to make progress. Every time you travel backward, you get to solve a new puzzle and sometimes even work with your past self (up to 100 of yourself). It’s pretty crazy. When you kill yourself or get killed, you instantly start over and respawn back in the past. The game offers nonstop action in a glorious adventure.

You can cooperate with these previous versions of yourself and use them to progress. Sometimes it’s necessary and you’ll have to use them to beat a puzzle. And the amount of characters on screen is just crazy to see- all helping each other to beat a puzzle. You’ll be able to work with an even bigger number in the future when the game develops.

The game isn’t easy by any means. It’s simple at first, but then things start taking place. You’ll have to work against guards, sentry guns, and even look for items like keys. You’ll get to use guns and weapons (the game switches to a first-person mode) and solve puzzles as well. The game is unique in its own right, but there have similar games like Timeless (and Portal).

Either way, Time Raid is a very awesome game that makes for a fun experience. You can play the alpha build of it as of now, and it’s currently being developed over Kickstarter.

ProsCons

  • Work with yourself simultaneously
  • Dialog from Alice is entertaining
  • Solve puzzles, disarm traps, avoid guards, shoot up baddies, and escape
  • Blends FPS and third-person action adventure
  • Pretty buggy as of now
  • Needs a decent computer to run the game smoothly
