Bio Evil 4 is a game that’s like a mix of a classic side scrolling platformer and modern horror into one game.

Well, it’s not really a horror game. The game is a side scrolling arcade platformer that’s packed with nonstop action. You play as a dude that looks like Leon from Resident Evil 4 (it actually is him) and you need to make it through some lost lands filled with cult members. You can blast them to pieces, but you’ll never get a chance to relax. The game consists of one long level with only a few checkpoints. The game is pretty difficult but it’s action-packed.

IzoProject is an awesome top-down Gauntlet-style ARPG where you need to defend yourself against hordes of zombies.

It’s a game that you can play cooperatively with a friend as you team up to use skills and spells against waves of zombies. The game looks similar to Diablo but has a mix of Gauntlet fused into it.

You can choose a character class and then use their unique skillset and playstyle to fight against the zombs. You can pick from a Warrior, Archer, Wizard, and Generalist. Each has its own pros/cons. It’s fun to team up with a buddy and have a strong offense/defense when you combine classes.

The game has you playing in a monster maze but there’s a catch- you can’t escape. You need to survive the waves as long as possible in this dungeon roguelike. The goal is to get a high score, but the game is pretty cool because it’s nonstop action with each wave getting more difficult. It has plenty of loot to collect, skill cooldown, and fast-paced action!

ROTA is a neat little puzzle platformer game where you need to rotate the direction of gravity itself in order to get across a variety of setups.

It’s a very tricky game that you’ll probably not be accustomed to since it’s pretty unique. You can shift the direction of gravity by walking around the outside edge of a platform and then change the layout of the level. You can also push squares around that can also shift the direction of gravity.

The squares are an integral part of the game and making progress, as you can push them, punch them, and even double punch them. It’s very hard to explain, but just by moving these squares around changes the whole layout of the entire game! It has 1-Bit art and a nice hip-hop OST.

ROTA is available for early access. Try it out if you’re puzzle fanatic.

Dragon Crisis is an arcade shoot-em-up that’s like a modern version of Snake with tons more action.

You play as a dragon made out of parts and metal and you have the ability to power up yourself with extra turrets lite read all over your body. You roam an asteroid field in space and you need to fight the baddies with pixelated projectiles and using the help of upgraded turrets on your body. Destroying bad guys gives you glowing orbs that can be used to buy more turrets and upgrade yourself for the next wave.

You have a limited amount of turrets you can place and there a few different ones so you need to choose accordingly. Some are better suited for different situations and some are much more powerful than others. You’ll have to use your best judgment and figure out the pros/cons of each turret in order to maximize your firepower so you can take down enemies.

The game also has a system where if one of your pieces gets destroyed, you can still pick up the litter in the surrounding area to collect them. It’s a twist on the classic puzzle game that’s worth playing if you’re into arcade games.

Darkade is a horror game that has you exploring an old Breakout arcade cabinet and reaching way beyond what you could ever imagine.

It’s a surreal and atmospheric experience as you explore what goes on within a simple arcade game. You’ll encounter some dark and nasty secrets about the game exploration and puzzle-solving. It’s a very weird and surreal experience and one of those horror games that branches off from the mainstream types of games.

train_mail is an awesome top-down platformer that has you cruising through tracks at super speeds!

It’s like Sonic and Super Monkey Ball combined into one blender with a dose of steroids. You play as a little train that lost its letters and you’re on a mission to collect them all again.

You race through winding tracks quickly and must control the train without falling off! The game has you trying to reach the end of the level to get letters. Each level is very short and can be completed very quickly. The difficult part is just maneuvering your train and not screwing it up.

The game has its own physics engine so you need to muster up your reflexes and guide the train from falling off the track. It does require some degree of skill in order to play correctly. The pixel art and mix of zany tunes make this one platformer that’s easy to get sucked into. The top-down view is also nice and isn’t often seen in platformers.

If you like trippy arcade platformers that “need to go fast,” you should check out train_mail. It’s a fast-paced platformer that’ll have Super Monkey Ball fans in overdrive because it goes a lot faster. The controls are a bit weird and do take some time to figure out. That’s my only gripe with it. With such a fast-paced game, it needs solid controls. You need a gamepad to play this correctly!

BEAT THE ART BREAKER is like if Streets of Rage were in 3D.

You run around and beat people up. LIterally. That’s the goal.

It’s a very stylistic pixel art 3D game where you run around a huge urban city and beat people up for cash. It feels like all those arcade cabinets you grew up with if they took place in a 3D world. It’s actually pretty trippy to play because there aren’t many games like this that have the arcade feel to them.

There’s no real storyline or mission, but then again, it’s a work in progress so that could be added later on. In this early access version, you just play as a  guy going around and punching people. As you punch them, you get cash. They’ll attack you back and retailers as well, but you have a dodge maneuver to outplay them.

If you get hit, you take damage and you’re only allowed 5 hits before it’s game over. But most of the enemies are easy to take down. These baddies range from fantasy creatures to just plain ugly. You can kind of “combo” them if you hit the buttons fast enough. They’re also not that aggressive and you’ll be able to take them down pretty easily whereas others are a little more difficult.

If you want to be technical, it’s not 3D exactly, but rather 2.9D as stated by the developer. The same dev, owch, made another game called LONG LIVE THE AXE which has a similar action-packed gameplay style.

With the cash you get by killing them, you can use it to upgrade your stuff or possibly purchase new gear. The current build doesn’t allow you to buy anything yet so it’s still up in the air. However, you can find a few power-ups throughout the city such as running shoes that make you move faster. You can also collect some soundtracks to listen to while you rail on baddies to pixel glory bits.

The game has a nice concept and I’m looking forward to seeing another build. The artwork is very appealing and a whole storyline could be made from this foundation. It’d make an awesome GTA-style game or just a new perspective on the classic beat ‘em up genre. BEAT THE ART BREAKER is something special. As of now, the game is very limited, but that’s obvious as it’s stated by dev on the game page.

It sports nice controls, an urban city with tons of mobs, and a gorgeous pixel scheme.

HoverCab is like Crazy Taxi if it were 2D and a sidescroller.

It’s a game that takes place many years into the future with jet-powered yellow taxis hovering about (hence, HoverCab) delivering and picking up patrons all over a spaceport probably set on planet Mars. If you’ve played games like Crazy Taxi or Simpsons Road Rage, you already know the concept. You pick people up and drop them off at their marked destination and earn cash!

HoverCab is the same thing but on a much simpler scale. The game is rendered on a 2D plane with 3D objects- so 2.5D? You find random passengers scattered around the map and bring them to their location using a nav point green marker. You have a timer and each passenger you deliver takes up time. If you run out of time, the game’s over. It’s completely skill-based. You get a debriefing with tips after each mission to know where you can improve to be a better space taxi driver.

You’re a hovercab operator and you need to deliver passengers as quickly as possible. The game comes from the original concept of Spacetaxi, released in 1984 which was also a 2D space taxi game.

As you do this, you’ll rack up cash which you can use to buy upgrades for your cab and unlock new things as well. This is unique to HoverCab as you couldn’t do this in many other taxi sims. You also have to watch out for your gas meter and fuel up when necessary! It drains pretty quickly so be sure to keep an eye on it and estimate ahead of time whether or not you can make the next trip or risk your space taxi career! The cash upgrades and gas meter are two new dimensions to work with and adds a nice sense of challenge and urgency to the game.

The game is based on missions that you complete to move onto the next one. It’s sort of like a campaign mode at its bare minimum. Most of them have you picking up and delivering a set number of patrons before time runs out. Getting cash is important to buy gas and repairs for your taxi and is necessary for the harder missions. Each level has different missions you need to complete. There are four levels each with a unique environment and challenges.

Some levels can get really difficult not only because of the terrain structure, but rather the controls. You’ll need to master them in order to traverse some later levels for sure. They’re responsive but very precise.

The artwork is simple, yet detailed. It uses a mix of low-poly resolutions and some incredible textures. your can is in 3D as you watch it swirl and twist around in fluid motion like a fish in an ocean. It’s easy on the eyes and it works.

Capsular is a hectic multiplayer first-person shooter that focuses on arcade-style gun combat!

It’s a very fast-paced and twitch reflex FPS game where you need to aim, react, and shoot before the other player gibs you instead! It’s a very easy-to-learn but difficult to master style of gameplay- sort of like Counter Strike and CS:GO.

The game starts out each match with everyone only having a basic pistol. No classes. No perks. No upgrades. Just a basic and level playing field. Then the real chaos begins as soon as the game starts. Everyone needs to scramble to find advantageous positions to camp, snipe, and dodge other players’ bullets or waiting for a loot crate to drop. It’s nothing unique, but Capsular instagib style combat makes it tenfold more interesting.

Capsular weapons range from basic guns to some pretty devastating weapons of destruction. The catch is that the bullets (projectiles) move pretty slow and allow you and other players to dodge and evade them. Remember, a single hit means you’re out.

It’s instagib. You need to dodge and avoid the projectiles from multiple enemy players as well as be able to lead your shots and time your bullets to hit enemy targets.

The gameplay style combines both aiming and dodging as they’re both necessary skills and you can’t beat the other players without mastering both assets. You’ll have to lead shots, predict enemy movement, and aim perfectly in order to get that instakill.

You’ll also have to dodge enemy fire from multiple directions and take cover behind obstacles in order to survive the other players.

Whenever you kill someone or get killed yourself, you’ll respawn nearly instantaneously and you’ll be right back into the action. The game is all about constant nonstop action that combines skill and reflexes into one game.

Without the need for lives, respawn timers or much strategy, you get a very fast-paced action shooter that plays like an arcade game. But with the instakill hitboxes, it makes for some forced skill in order to play it right. It’s a pretty awesome concept when you put it all together.

Something else that’s pretty cool is that you can customize your kill screen postcard and even choose a sentence or phrase to display whenever you kill someone.

A single hit is a single kill. The game is adrenaline-fueled and perfect for twitch gamers who like these type of FPS. Sign up for the beta and get your key. Capsular may be the next CS:GO alternative. Try it out if you’re ready for some fast-paced FPS action!

Rot: Purge is an arcade shooter that has you fighting out huge waves of zombies in a semi-apocalyptic world.

The game offers nonstop twin-stick arcade action as you blast tons and tons of zombies in a voxel-based world. The game has you playing as a badass policeman out on the job and all you need to do is Rambo your way through different areas of an infested city.

Rot:Purge is similar to pretty much any zombie-survival game- you just need to take down each wave without getting yourself killed. The game allows you to choose from two different modes. You can play the traditional wave mode or you can choose a new “hardpoint” mode that allows you to get extra experience inside designated areas.

If you’re outside these points, you get no experience. You need experience in order to level your character up.

The game offers some very appealing graphics with blocky everything. You can collect items that are upgradeable and even get loot drops that grant you awesome stuff like molotov cocktails to blow ’em up! There are even multiple characters and outfits you can wear.

One thing that makes this zombie survival game stand out from the rest is the destructible environments, which offers a strategic advantage. The twin stick arcade style also focuses less on camping and more on just Rambo-ing down waves of zombies. It’s just total voxel carnage all over.

The game is pretty fun to play, but doesn’t offer much in terms of difficulty. You’ll have a blast getting through all the waves of zombies but you don’t need to try too hard at all. The game is still very early in dev, so there are a few bugs and unpolished game mechanics.

You can currently choose from 2 guns and 4 different areas to explore. There are also a few different zombies each with their own weaknesses and strengths for you discover. And there’s unlockable gun as well.
