Quarantined: Viscerafest is an old-school FPS game like DOOM.

You run and round and gun down hordes of baddies and other creatures that travel between dimensions. Just like DOOM, your hero will crack jokes here and there with some one-liners. However, it’s a girl this time.

You play as Caroline Fetter, a girl who you’d swear is Duke Nukem’s sister. She’s on a hunt to hunt down a warlock and save the planet. Who cares about the story? It’s all about the action! you’ll run around and shoot down tons of creatures with a variety of weapons. Prepare for some adrenaline-fueled combat with branching paths, beefy weapons, and tons of action. This is a true homage to the past retro classics with awesome pixel artwork, weapons, and gameplay elements.

Battlefield V is now available for public beta with PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

There’s not much to say- if you’ve played any Battlefield game before, this is the next game in the series. It features two large maps called Rotterdam and Arctic Fjord and three modes which are Conquest, Tides of War, and Grand Operations. The’res enough content to keep you busy with the two maps and variety of modes.

Conquest is the signature trademark of the game which allows 64 player battles trying to fight for key locations on the map. Holding moore locations gains you points faster, with 4-6 points on each map. Players can select classes, customize weaponry, use new towables, ortications, and squad reinforcements. Vehicles have also been an integral of the game with ships, planes, tanks, cars, and artillery. And that’s not all.

Tides of War is pretty much the online campaign mode. It lets you play through multiple chapters with more being released every months.

Grand Operations features 64 player battles that take place over 4 days mixing multiple game modes and maps with previous days having an effect on the next day.

The full game comes out in November, but you can play the beta right now for free for a few days. Players who complete Tides of War will an exclusive dog tag for the full game!

DUGA is an awesome first-person shooter game with roguelike elements. Or at least, that’s what the game advertises. And it delivers.

It’s like a hybrid of DOOM and Wolfenstein with old-school pixel artwork and the basic and infamous UI overlay at the bottom of the screen. DUGA features some pretty awesome features that set it apart into today’s world.

For starters, the levels are procedurally-generated, which means you’ll never play the same level twice! It also has about two dozen weapons and a pretty smart AI system. The game’s best feature is the custom levels. You can create and upload your own levels and play creations by players online. It’s like DOOM all over again with its custom mods.

pla_toon is a cartoony military multiplayer FPS that’s kind of similar to browser-based online shooters.

It’s a game that features some appealing cartoony visuals with powerful weapons and destructible environments. You can grab yourself a gun, take down your enemies in a variety of game modes, and destroy the surroundings with your gun- or a vehicle! The game has a physics engine built in with ragdoll physics, so it’s funny and shooty at the same time. You can play with friends in standard FFA, TDM, and CTF modes with co-op base defense against bots in a planned release.

You can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives as you mow down your enemies. The game takes a simple approach to the genre with some fresh graphics- it’s like a breath of fresh air from all the clones upon clones out there. This is simple, but it works and is exactly the type of game design players have been itching for just from the “very positive” reviews on Steam.

The game is still in early access, but there are plenty of weapons and one vehicle so far. It’s nothing to be taken seriously, but it’s still a blast to play as you feel like you got lost in Toy Story or something as a toy soldier.

MOODFOOD is a crazy and hectic FPS arena game where you need to take down the enemies, AND the arena!

You play in a deadly arena with some very trippy colors and gorgeous pixel artwork as you try to entertain some government lady. You have to defend yourself from her little “helpers” which range from giant canonmen, spider robots, and weird floating spirits. She’ll try anything to get you killed in the arena of doom and you need to do what you can to defend yourself.

However, the arena itself will also try to eat you alive. It’ll drop Tom Droppers from above like anvils and crush anything below it. This can kill you and kill your enemies, so use it to your benefit! Anything crushed will just flatten like a tiny pancake! They can also provide cover from projectiles, but then again, they’re obstacles you need to watch out for.

You can shoot, charge your fist, dash, and smash, and the game just throws nonstop action at your face and you need to do whatever you can and react quickly to the Governess’ minions and the arena itself. If you’re in for a unique FPS, try out MOODFOOD!

Mist Hunter is an awesome FPS with some colorful and stylish artwork.

It’s a fast-paced shooter game with very slick animations and a nice selection of magic weapons that you use to take down hordes and waves of magic monsters. The game has a basic campaign mode that has you traveling around the world to slay creatures. You can try this out by playing the current alpha version. The game gets harder as you progress, similar to any other TD or zombie wave game. As you make progress, you can unlock different weapons and special abilities by using XP that you earned from the level.

Mist Hunter is a very fast-paced game that almost looks like Overwatch if it were styled differently with a different premise. It has very fast and polished animations and the gameplay is nonstop action.

MURDER MACHINE is an awesome fast-paced DOOM-like FPS game where it’s just packed with monsters upon monsters and nonstop action.

You play as a robot with a human transplant and you’re in full control of a metal body. Well, actually, you’re not in full control. You see everything as pixels and you can’t really jump nor look up and down. It’s very similar to the original DOOM.

Either way, you’ll then blast your way through waves of simulated robots who are trying to hunt you down! You’ll have to navigate treacherous paths, storm robot-infested rooms, dodge projectiles, and blast them up. The game is just nonstop action like Serious Sam or DOOM. The game is currently in the demo but there’s already tons to do- you get a tutorial and a few full levels to storm through.

There’s no cover, no autoaim, and no handholding. It’s all about you and playing strategically- or not!

The controls are similar to Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM with fast movement and no looking up/down. The levels are huge and filled with special items, key cards, puzzles, and powerful guns to wield. You can even turn robots against each other by playing strategically.

If you’re looking for an old-school FPS, try out MURDER MACHINE. It’s a killing good time with just adrenaline-fueled FPS!

Godhunters is an awesome DOOM-like roguelike FPS that has you shooting down monsters and earning cash to unlock more powerful guns to shoot them down again!

It plays in a series of matches. You start out being randomly dropped into a map sprawling with monsters, loot, and a few points of interest. You can run around looking for chests in order to get some weapons and upgrades or you can find some points of interests like fountains, buildings, statues, and others that all help you out. But they’re guarded by monsters so you should get some guns first from the chest and upgrade your gear before securing one down.

You can also find gems, which is the currency of choice in Godhunters. You need to use them to upgrade weapons, and stack upgrades until you beefed up. But even then, the game is still VERY difficult. You currently play in a single level- the forest. There are a few bosses also, but it’s enough to keep you busy.

You start out as a scrub- weak with no upgrades and no gear. You need to get some weapons and loot them up and get some upgrades so you can do things like increase HP regen, faster movement, speed, poison shots, and other stuff that you’ll need in order to beat the game.

It’s a roguelike, so you need all the help you can get. You get a basic map and some basic UI and then you’re thrown into a dark forest with a pistol. It feels like a DOOM spin-off where you just have nonstop action but you can’t get killed or else it’s game over. if you like fast-paced FPS, try out Godhunters! Try it out now!

Cartoon Strike is a low-poly multiplayer survival shooter based on many different themes.

So yeah, it’s another last man standing game, but the twist is that you take on a whole bunch of different maps inspired by different games. The game draws inspiration from games like Star Wars, CoD, Counter-Strike, For Honor, and even Battlefield.

Cartoon Strike currently has a half-dozen maps all spread out through different eras of time with funny references to the original map. For example, Dirt 2 is a customized Counter-Strike map of Dust2.

The game also has a map called Royale Island that’s your standard battle royale map that has you looting for gear as you fight to be the last man standing. I think this game has a lot of things going for it, but it needs to to be free to play in order to complete.

Other games that had a unique concept didn’t make it when they charged for the game so they had to transition to free with in-game purchases. Cartoon Strike needs that ease of access and entry in order to compete in this crowded arena.

There are plans to add more maps in the future. While the game isn’t exactly original, it’s still pretty interesting and fun to play. The low-poly graphics work and the game needs some polish, but it has a nice foundation going for it.

VolleyShot is a super fast-paced game that combines both FPS and volleyball into one weird mashup.

You start out in volleyball-style rounds using two weapons- a primary and secondary weapon. Your primary weapon is a long shot (what you’ll be using most of the time) and your secondary gun is your “set” maneuver like in real volleyball. You’ll have to use both in order to beat your opponent. The secondary “set” is much more useful for feigning or using strategy to outplay your opponent!

A team can earn points by either having the ball touch the surface on the opposite team or when the timer runs out. There’s a “return timer” that keeps track of how long the enemy has the ball. If they keep it for too long, they forfeit it and your team earns a point. They have 15 seconds to make up their mind and gun the ball back over the net.

The game feels like a weird mod of an FPS game that seems familiar, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. The graphics and artwork are realistic and feature giant worlds where you’re just a small figurine playing volleyball in a house and such. But that’s just one court. There’s also a school gym and some spaceship. It’s a pretty eerie feeling but at the same time, it’s freakin’ volleyball with guns. What do you expect?

It plays like a typical volleyball game. You have teammates and you’re against a bunch of other players. You use your guns to shoot the ball in order to get it moving. It’s volleyball. It’s FPS. It’s VolleyShot.

The mechanics are just like any FPS game out there. You shoot using the long or set shot in order to score points. The long shot is useful because you can make it bounce off walls until the bullet hits the ball. But you can’t time it to go too far because it disappears after a few seconds. You have to be able to predict the path of the ball in order to master this shot. It gives the ball energy.

The set shot is used for quick shots to outplay the enemy. You can use it raise the ball and also stop fast-moving balls as well. It can also be used to save the ball from hitting the floor or even shooting it into the air to set up a spike! It takes away energy from the ball so you have to use it at the right time.

You’ll have to combine both to master the game.

To add another dimension, you can also jump as well. If you’re in low gravity, you can jump off the ceiling. If you’re in normal gravity, you can jump off walls. Imagine saving a shot just by bouncing off the walls. Or jumping on the wall to spike the ball. That’s pretty cool, right?

The game features different modes, however, the main mode is simply volleyball.  The game is currently offered in a demo and you can play 3 modes: Score, Time, and Practice Mode. Score is the standard game. Time runs on a timer. And practice is practice. Score Mode will be the main game for all intents and purposes so far. But later on, there are plans for a ladder, ranked games, couch multiplayer, online games, and multiple courts. You’ll also be able to change gravity settings, ball types, and even ball speed which makes a huge impact on the pace of the game.

You can also choose from three different ball sizes as well, but I didn’t notice a major difference. Gravity has five different settings and completely changes the gameplay style. You can choose fine-tuned gravity settings based on five entities in the Milky Way.

Overall, VolleyShot is a crazy new concept and looks like it has a ton of potential to be a hit game. It’s right up there in weirdness with Rocket League. These games can quickly snowball if word spreads. And that’s what we’re doing here. VolleyShot is a game worth checking out. It’ll eventually have local split-screen multiplayer and online play as well.

Update: The demo version does have multiplayer. I don’t know how I missed that.
