The National Library of Geometric Impossibilities! is a puzzle game where you explore a library and need to solve some mind-bending spaces and puzzles as you try to return books to their proper location in a surreal library.

It’s like getting trapped in one of those impossible optical illusion puzzles. Your a dude that just started his new job at the library and all you need to do is turn books in to where they belong on the shelves. It seems easy, but it’s not. You need to navigate some complex areas that really make you think what exactly you’re looking at. You need to solve puzzles and get across some impossible spaces that don’t make sense in order to progress. It really screws with your perception.

The game is only about 20 minutes long but it’s a very complicated puzzler with some imposing architecture and creative and difficult puzzle design. If you’re looking for a trippy puzzler, try out The National Library of Geometric Impossibilities!

Pillar of Skylines is a puzzle platformer with some impressive visual effects.

The game has you playing as a holy being where you need to destroy stones that are connecting two giant worlds together. You need to explore every nook and cranny between the worlds within these pillars, which gives the ability for the game to show off some amazing and mesmerizing graphics. You’ll see trees that defy gravity, water that rises, and gravity is a thing of the imagination. In this void, the space between the worlds is an infinite space that loops forever, so if you fall it doesn’t affect your character.

You’ll need to find your way to the stones connecting the worlds in order to investigate them. Once you reach them, you go in and then solve the puzzles that hold the stones together. The game’s puzzles aren’t that difficult, but they’re interesting enough to keep you occupied. You’ll have to learn some stuff from the game’s hints but most of it is just trial-and-error. You can even unlock skills to help your platforming skills like teleportation, wall-running, gliding, and dashing.

It combines both genres into one amazing game. Old temples, sideways forests, and even cave systems have tons of secrets to explore. Pillars of Skylines contains a checkpoint system and areas to uncover with minigames, gravity-bending gameplay, and a lot of other cool stuff to discover.

Because the game is so pretty, it has some lag and frame drops here and there. But it’s one of a kind if you like pretty puzzle adventure game. Try out Pillar of Skylines and see some amazing artwork for yourself and be amazed.

Ruby Majesty Treasure Team is an awesome top-down dungeon crawler with local co-op!

If you’ve played any retro dungeon crawler before, you’ll know exactly what to do. It features some old-school pixel artwork with lots of low-res effects. The game has you traveling through dungeons with tons of loot to grab and a lot of puzzles and hazards throughout each level. Each dungeon also has multiple paths so it’s not linear and a ton of interactions. Grab a friend and spend an evening together getting through the game’s 200 “action-packed” puzzles with a smashing OST to back it up! It’s a guaranteed good time!

Even if you have no friends, it still has a single-player mode.

But the game is much better with a friend though, as the game has two protagonists that have their own movement styles, skills, and pros/cons. You just go through each dungeon and solve the many puzzles and rescue cute characters all backed by a pulsing soundtrack wit nonstop pixel art action! It’s just one of those hidden gems of an indie game that you’ll want to try out. And it supports controllers also.

There are two characters- Ruby can push blocks and hold items while Majesty can fly over hazards and moves quickly. IF you play with a friend, you have to take turns getting across each puzzle and work cooperatively.

Seriously, there’s nothing much to say other than to just play the freaking game. So do it. You’ll have a blast!

Mortal Crowns is an isometric adventure puzzle game with a horror theme.

It’s not exactly a jumpscare game where things will jump out at you, but it’s more like a horror-themed adventure game. You go through a labyrinth filled with scary monsters as you try to make progress by solving some decent puzzles.

You play as a girl who has the ability to warp to this place using a picture on her wall in her bedroom. Think Super Mario 64. When she warps in, the place is crawling with monsters and puzzles that need to be solved in order to advance through the labyrinth.

The place is dark, wet, and disgusting. There are skeletons, candles, and a lot of monsters teeming the place. You have to solve particular puzzles and a lot of them require that you use your logic skill and break codes. You can also get some help from “aids” but it’s still difficult. You’ll need to jot down some notes in order to solve them.

Oh, and you’re being chased by a monster while you’re trying to solve the puzzles.

It can get pretty frustrating to play. If you get caught by the monster, the game turns into a turn-based battle game where you choose your next attack, defend, or try to run away. You can also use a few abilities as well. It goes full RPG on you, but these battles are often and pretty mundane. You’ll get annoyed and frustrated pretty easily though. And then you learn that the thing you’re running from is more of an annoyance because you’ll have to fight it in RPG mode rather than be scared.

It’s the game’s biggest issue. It’s supposed to be a fun exploration game with awesome puzzles in an immersive environment, but the monster makes it annoying.

Toodee and Topdee is a cute indie platformer game that combines puzzle elements in two dimensions!

It’s both a 2D platformer and a top-down puzzler at the same time. On the same screen. It’s one of those puzzle games that have original ideas and a unique way to solve the puzzles.

You play as Toodee and Topdee, two characters from their own respective puzzle games, who get mixed up into one mixed puzzle madness because of a funny glitch in the game code. Now they have to join forces and cooperate in order o beat the game and find the missing piece of code to go back to their original games. Hint: It’s a semicolon (;).

You can freely switch between the two characters just by pressing a single key. It switches your controls and your perspective between the two puzzle modes. It works very well and switches instantly on the fly. The two characters can’t directly interact with each other, but they need to work together if they want to solve the puzzles and continue their little adventure!

You can interact with objects in the worlds to change the environment in order to progress. The current build offers a nice sample of levels and each one is notably unique and a little more difficult than the previous ones. The game also has a platform element that’s pretty difficult as well. It’s really a true puzzle platformer game and it’s free to play using the link below.

No Time is another escape room game, but this time you have no time!

You literally only have 5 minutes to escape from a dark and somewhat creepy room. You need to do everything you typically do in escape room games like solve puzzles and discover various mysteries about the room. The time is constantly ticking and you’ll feel like you’re constantly pushed to hurry it up!

Although there’s no lore behind it, the game is good enough to keep you busy. It’s rather straightforward and you won’t have much time to read about the environment. There are random notes that you read and various situations you’ll find yourself in, but most of the game is running around trying everything to escape!

If you’re not good at working under pressure, you may want to steer clear of this title. But if you’re in for some fast-paced puzzle solving action, give No Time a try.

The game is in first-person with some nice 3D graphics that give the overall game a nice feeling like you’re seriously trapped in some dark mansion or something. There are also quite a few bugs like items being able to get reached through physical barriers. Some puzzles also make no sense and aren’t quite intuitive, so you’ll be clicking around wondering what to do.

However, the concept of No Time is pretty unique. I’ll give it that. You don’t see many puzzle games with a timer.

RoomScape is a puzzle adventure game with a very interesting game design.

You play as a girl who wakes up in a strange research lab without any memory of what happened (pretty much the prologue of every videogame ever). You need to explore the facility and try to escape from it! You can roam around the place but you’ll quickly learn that there’s another being behind the announcement system that tells you if you want to escape, you need to complete the task of solving puzzles. By doing this, you’ll get to escape and get your memories restored.

RoomScape takes place in a futuristic world with some nice graphics that look surreal. It takes place in the first-person perspective and provides a variety of engaging puzzles to solve. You’ll learn about the protagonist you play as and you’ll collect new items that help you discover her past. The items you get will need to be combined in order to get past puzzles.

It’s kind of a narrative mixed with puzzle elements with ingenious design. The place has four compartments each with their own unique “theme” that you need to get through. The puzzles range from easy to complex and you’ll need to use extreme attention to detail and think unconventionally in order to solve them. If you like puzzle games, this is your game.

Neiva is a gorgeous and stunning-looking puzzle platformer.

I know. We’ve all been on a puzzler crazy recently with our updates. That’s because we all decided to give puzzle game another try. None of us are really puzzle gamers, but with the slew of updates we did covering these games, we really rethought our opinion of them- they’re actually pretty fun.

Anyway, Neiva is yet another indie puzzler and this time it’s a platformer puzzler. It’s kind of like an adventure game where you need to navigate the levels by going sideways just like the classic 2D platformers like Donkey Kong Country.

For some reason, the graphics in this game remind me of DKC but with a much more higher resolution. The artwork is very similar with lush backgrounds and highly-detailed environments that have some odd placements of objects. You’ll see plenty of greenery, tiles, bricks, lights, wood, and mysterious objects. The artwork in this game is superb- you’ll be drawn right in. It’s colorful, simple, and detailed and looks hand-painted.

The gameplay is simple, yet challenging. You control a little avatar who can use projectile orb that travels in a set path and he can then teleport to that orb’s location instantly. You can cycle between three different types of moves, which is required in order to progress through some tougher platforming parts of the game.

Each level features different platforming platforms, hazards, and drops that you’ll need to navigate through by timing your orb projectile ability. Timing and precision are key to beat the game. But it’s not all easy and it’s not all challenging. The difficult is good where it is. Not too hard and not too difficult.

You launch the orb and time your teleport. Then you move on to the next platform and repeat. That’s Neiva in a nutshell.

Eventually, you have to combo your orbs with jumps in one single maneuver, which looks awesome if you pull it off properly. It’s very fluid and the controls are perfect. There is some lag though, but usually, if you fail, it’s not the game’s fault.

However, during the lag, the orb will basically teleport you a tad too late and you’ll end up like a second behind where you wanted to be which can screw up your whole combo and you’ll have to redo it. It’s not really a big issue, but it does mess with your perceptions of the orb.

Overall, Neiva is still an excellent puzzle platformer game and offers plenty of puzzles to keep you busy. It’s an immersive game with its impressive visuals and will take you a while to beat because it has 100 collectibles in the game throughout the levels. They’re not in the easiest of places to teleport to, so it’ll offer quite a challenge for the hardcore platform gamers.

Smintheus is a puzzle adventure game that combines some RPG elements all wrapped up into one gorgeous adventure!

It’s a 2D puzzler where you play as a mouse named Gerald. You’re a young craftsman who was ostracized from your home village because of danger from the local cat. So now you’re on a lonesome adventure in a beautiful fantasy world.

Smintheus is a top-down platformer with some seriously amazing artwork. It features rich, colorful worlds with lots of special effects like glows and color contrasts. It looks like something from the N64 or Game Boy era with remastered graphics. I know that’s a weird comparison, but that’s the vibe I got from trying out this game.

The puzzles are simple and basic and aren’t designed to slow down your pace. You can solve them quickly and move onto the next one so your adventure is always rolling. You’ll see familiar puzzles like tile sliding and box pushing tasks. You’ll also see some more complex and unique ones like gadget placements, which I haven’t really seen in other games before.

The game is mainly a “complete one area and move onto the next” type of thing with some mild puzzle elements thrown into it. The most enjoying part is simply just looking at the environments you’ll encounter. The puzzles are second rate in my opinion. I found the exploration and level design much more interesting.

Besides the puzzling and exploring, you also get a few tools that you can use offensively to take down enemies. Some of the tools will be needed to solve puzzles as well.

The game also has crafting elements to it where you need to build stuff to make progress- especially bridges or getting across rivers, lakes, and building on water. This adds a whole new element of gameplay, but it seems underutilized. You can also do quests on the side with the primary quest as well. You have a nice inventory layout that has all your items, gadgets, attributes, and quests on one screen.

The antagonist of the game is a powerful creature who will attempt to take you down as you go about your mousey life. There are some areas where you need to sneak around and go dark in order to not get caught. There are also plenty of mobs to fight as well. The game also lets you sneak around them if you wish (being a mouse means sneaking through enemy lines!).

Throughout your adventure, you’ll find a few NPCs who you can interact with. They have some basic dialog and contribute mildly to the story, but it seems like they’re still a work-in-progress.

Smintheus also has a nice little retro-style OST from the 1980s. Each world has a unique track to it and they’re quite fitting to the game.

If you’re in for a simple and cute little indie puzzler, Smintheus is worth a try. It features gorgeous artwork with easy puzzles and the element of exploration. Crafting and survival elements are also used lightly throughout the game so it feels almost like an RPG.

Rainswept is an emotional story where you need to solve a murder mystery.

You play as Michael Anderson. You’re a detective that’s been assigned to an unknown town called Pineview to help out the local police force with a case that’s seemingly simple.

The report is that a couple has been found murdered in their own kitchen. But who killed them?

It’s the classic whodunit scenario. The local people believe it’s a murder-suicide. After all, the couple has been stated to have a very unstable relationship with each other.

As a detective, you don’t believe anyone. It’s up to you to solve the murder mystery and find out what really happened. Or are the townsfolk right? Gather clues and find out!

It’s a classic detective game where you need to walk around town and talk to people to gather clues. It’s an atmospheric adventure game with artsy pixel work and an original emotional soundtrack.

The game draws you in with its simple graphics and keeps you attentive with a wide variety of characters each having deep histories, meaningful conversations, and swaying personalities. The game delves into touching topics like relationships, breakups, and even trauma.

You need to simply walk around the colorful town of Pineview and talk to people, take notes, and gather clues. There’s a lot of dialogs as it’s almost like a novel, but there’s a ton of adventure elements as well that make it kinda like an RPG. Characters have personalities and you need to talk to everyone to get clues.

You also have to search rooms and environments for clues. It has point-and-click elements to it like the original murder mystery games that litter the net where you need to find the clues.

If you’re into that, this game has it all. You need to search a bunch of objects (most of it is in plain sight) to gather evidence and clues to solve the puzzle.

Rainswept is currently available for early access and the game will last you about an hour. It’s worth the play if you’re into storyline-driven gameplay with a touch of exploration, puzzle-solving, and point-and-clicking.

The characters, storyline, and soundtrack will have you playing throughout the entire thing in one sitting. It’s that good.
