Space Co-Op QWOP is another hilarious QWOP-style physics-based game that’s guaranteed to make you laugh (and rage).
If you’ve played QWOP, One Small Step, or Tentagrabba, it’s pretty much the same concept. You have mapped buttons on your keyboard and you need to press the right key in order to move the right limb.
In Space Co-Op QWOP, it’s the same thing but the hilarity is turned up a notch. Since it takes place in space, the whole game is rendered in super slow motion. You literally get to see your character walk around awkward and fail in slow-mo. Given that the graphics are goofy already and you’re a giant alien with a backpack and giant limbs, the game guarantees some good laughs.
You’re given a list of simple chores that you need to complete. On Earth, this would be easy. In a space coffee shop, this would also be easy. It’s when you add QWOP that makes it difficult (and funny).
You can move around with the WASD keys and also pick things up and grab them with the Q and E buttons if you can reach them. It seems easy, but it’s very difficult. The game has no gravity and everything is rendered slowly, so your mistakes show super slowly and you can literally see your fail take place before you.
You have to complete tasks like picking up a dog and putting it away behind the bar or even giving some good old customer service to your patrons in your shop. You’ll be surprised at how difficult it is as you knock over chairs, spin in place, and throw objects all the room while your customers just sit there and stare aimlessly into space.
The only way to get around is to use the thrusters in your jetpack. You’re probably human, but it’s funny to imagine a small alien in a space suit trying to run a coffee shop in space. The only problem is that your pack has 4 thrusters and each one fires in a different direction. You’ll have to master the ways of the jetpack just like in real life space. Use bursts rather than spray. That’s the only hint you need.
The twist that Space Co-Op QWOP offers is that you can play with a friend- hence the “co-op” in the title. You can play with up to 3 other friends and each person controls a separate thruster on the character’s jetpack. It can really get chaotic and hilarious when you actually get a full house. You’ll have to communicate and work together in order to complete the tasks. Just moving from point A to B is very, very difficult with friends. This is an indie game you’ll want to bring out with the crowd.
